The signings of Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon could see Tottenham's formation change as Jose Mourinho completes one of the biggest tactical shifts of his long and illustrious managerial career.

Absolutely yes, but my concern is; where's Ndombele in that formation?

I still think that midfield is too lightweight, maybe it could work against smaller teams but sticking 3 in there is the way to go against bigger teams.

As for Ndombele he needs to work to get into the manager's thinking first before he becomes a selection headache, if he plays anywhere near to his ability then you'll probably find the manager wanting to shape the team around him other than the other way round.

He doesn’t fit (at the moment)
That front three will need some real hard work in behind, host look at the Liverpool CMs
With the wingbacks I think we’ll add the extra defender. Back three, PEH and GLC.
3-4-3 in possession. Wingbacks obvs dropping back to defend when needed.

I think Jose is good at seeing where our midfield is being outnumbered and won't be a slave to a particular philosophy -Everton being a good example although the change didn't work. So with Dier playing that central CB role, I can see him being asked to step forward into an anchor role to give more positional stability to the midfield and perhaps asking the defensive line to play a little narrower.

I like the formation they have set out but even with Davies at LCB I think we're still light on CBs with Toby, Dier, Sanchez and Tanganga especially if you're looking for a player that can theoretically do what Dier does in stepping forward.

Therefore, if this is the tactical approach JM is looking to implement (and it would make sense given Sacromento's input in a similar system at Lille) I fully expect us to be looking for a new ball playing CB or a physically imposing DM who can play between the CBs

While a 3-4-3 would work I actually reckon we're more likely to drop the whole lopsided thing and go back to Jose's classic 4-3-3.

If he longer feels burdened to play Alli every game then a 4-3-3 suits the rest of our players really well. Hojbjerg can sit, Reguilon provides genuine balance and threat on the left, and Doherty shouldn't require half as much babysitting as Aurier used to. I also think Jose will trust Ndombele far more in a 3 than in a midfield 2, so we can actually fit him into the side.

Lloris
Doherty-Toby-Dier-Reguilon
Hojbjerg
Lo Celso Ndombele
Bale Kane Son
This should be enough to murder a lot of teams. The only problem is we might be a bit too open on the right, as it's hard to see Bale tracking back too much. I can see Jose trying to fit Sissoko or Lucas in there somewhere to provide some extra running and/or steel (and in doing so fucking our possession game and creativity).

That said, the 3-4-3 also looks very tasty although I'm not sure there's quite enough creativity in there, personally. Lots of runners and not enough technicians.

If Ndombele continues to impress Jose and earn playing time, 433 would be the best option. Yes, the fullbacks are more attacking than defensive but look at Liverpool with their 433, they have attacking fullbacks. Just means our defensive midfielder (PEH) and Lo Celso would have to make sure they are doing more work behind Ndombele to stop counter attacks.
