Yeah by the rules it is a penalty, no doubt. In the good spirit of the game though? I don’t think so because there was no goal scoring opportunity prevented. But when you try and bring the context of a situation into a decision point the referees completely lack consistency and need a binary guideline to do their job (as we’ve seen with the handball rule this season), the poor simpletons.
