I remember us winning all 8 of our preseason games under Jol and then couldn't get a result for love nor money in the PL.

Pre-season results mean sod all. It's all about the performances, getting the chemistry within the team with the formation and tactics and building fitness (especially those coming back from injuries at the end of the previous season). We battered Roma one summer and then were terrible when it mattered.

Of course winning friendlies is nice, but it isn't the be all and end all.

It’s the sort of thing that comes from a gooner who has never been to WHL for a NLD...fair play to the ones who do have the bollocks to come to the lane, because we never make getting in the ground an enjoyable experience for them.
