Damn so sad. I’m guessing after he was axed from aftv he probably never really recovered and ended up on a negative spiral. So bad that aftv didn’t stand by one of their own. I don’t think what he said was that outrageous and maybe a slap on the wrist as it was a spare of the moment thing in a heated NLD, shame on AFTV.

Firstly, we don't know that cause of death yet so I don't think idle speculation is all that helpful.

Secondly, while you may not deem casual racism all that outrageous, other people do and AFTV have the right to not want to be associated with those views.

I always felt he was the kind of guy you could have a good discussion with without him getting personal like some of those other idiots they have on there.

Was thrown under the bus by Robbie who originally supported him until he realised sponsors weren't going to give him money.

If you find a video of Claude when he was first on AFTV he looks much healthier. He wasnt looked after.

But Robbie has made Asian jokes, Troopz has made some too and DT has referred to Kane in a very derogatory way.

The only reason they cut Claude is because sponsors started pulling out.

He wasn’t even a racist. It was just a spare of the moment comment completely blown out of proportion. We all say stupid stuff in heated moments.
I think AFTV axing him was disgusting. For example Carragher spitting is far worse and all he got was a slap on the wrist.

Not the same situations though. AFTV is a business, and while what Claude said may not necessarily make him a full-on Nazi, it was enough to threaten to fuck with the AFTV's revenue stream, at which point he had to go.

If Carragher had done anything similar he'd be out of a job too as sponsors wont want their brand associated with racism in any form. Spitting is fine though, obviously.

I do feel for the bloke, but AFTV didn't own him a living. They gave him a platform and he lost it though his own stupidity.

Disagree, Robbie, DT and Troopz have all made casual racist jokes and even said things about Kane which can be seen as derogatory. They literally used Claude to set an example and didn’t stand by him.

Of course but they initially didn't axe him and put out an apology video hoping to just sweep it away. But then their sponsor pulled out so they decided they had to act.

So they only acted on the joke, when they saw it was going to affect their pocket.

Troopz and DT are two despicable characters, real nasty pieces of work, they make dumb jokes about other people and can be offensive yet they seem to have been given a pass.

But then again I think we are dealing with people who've had no media training and don't know when to shut up.

Sadly. It also leaves vulnerable exposed to this..

Personally I don't watch AFTV all that much, only for a wee bit of schadenfreude after a heavy defeat, so I can't really comment on things the other presenters may or may not have said. Claude's comments were unacceptable for anyone with a public forum and AFTV have the right not book him. That said, he was clearly struggling with mental health issues and while that doesn't excuse anything, it does show that he could have done with more support from friends, family and colleagues alike.

Very sad news. Rivalries and banter aside. Claude seemed like a nice guy who was Arsenal through and through. I know he had mental health issues. It’s a horrible thing to say but I just hope he passed away from natural causes and didn’t take his own life which would be a tragedy RIP Claude.

Sad but not too unexpected unfortunately. Obviously the Sonny DVD stuff was wrong and should have been handled completely differently but I thought he was a genuine bloke who probably talked more sense on AFTV than anyone else. May the bald headed gooner RIP & enjoy plenty more NLD's upstairs
