And Homer's OdysseyExactly how long has Ozil been on the shitter? Did he bring in War and Peace?

They're in such a precarious position now, it's amazing to see.
I imagine that their board thought they could just get Ljungberg in to see through the season and at least give them a honeymoon period. Then they can spend the summer convincing a big name (Allegri) or highly rated coach (Den Tag) to come in and reshape the team.
However, Ljungberg appears to be way out of his depth and the fact he's copying Emery's blueprint suggests he doesn't know what to do.
They now have limited choices and are backed into a corner.
Push for the coach they may have been waiting for (Nagelsmann, Den Tag, etc). Except none of these coaches in their right mind will leave their jobs right now and they all look like they'd wait for the likes of Bayern anyway. Unless they offer these coaches an offer they can't refuse, I can't see it.
Go for someone available and established (Allegri, Poch). They've supposedly been turned down by Allegri and I really think Poch will turn them down, not just because of alligence to us but because there's better options on the horizon for him and going there could undo all the great work he's done to establish himself.
Buy someone like Benitez out of his contract, yet it doesn't seem like something they'd do.
That leaves them with two choices...
1. Give the job to a Vieira or Henry which would be a disaster as neither have shown anything to suggest they'd get a tune out of this team. Unless they do a Sherwood and just let the players play but have no concept of tactics.
2. Get in someone short term, who'll stabilise things until the summer but won't be able to persuade the likes of PEA to stay.
It's at times like this you appreciate Levy because whilst we have made some bad decisions regarding recruitment, at least he plans ahead to ensure we don't end up in a mess like this.
It's an interesting market for managers right now as there appear to be too many "big clubs" and too few high profile managers to fill all the vacancies. It means that some of the big clubs will have to take risks, and as Arsenal are possibly the most risky big club job around right now, they will almost certainly have to think outside the box, with a high chance of things going spectacularly wrong. They're in such a precarious position now, it's amazing to see.
