Are we in danger of becoming England's answer to Monaco where we nurture great talent at low cost and wages to then have our stars preyed and poached with the opportunity to challenge at highest level and earn money most can only dream about.

In my opinion our model can't work for longer term as it doesn't allow for us to maintain the continuity needed to be a major competitor season in and season out

I understand market forces are working against us but failure to readdress our strategies will see us revert back to scrapping a way into Europe via Europa league at best.

Or are Dortmund the German Spurs?

Nope. We are Tottenham, Super Tottenham, from the...

Shit me, this is getting confusing.

We always sell if the price is right our policy is one of buying low risk talent and selling them on for maximum profit.
I don't think any player is off limits including Kane if the money is right despite levys rhetoric about keeping our players etc.

The only thing that makes Kane different is his own attitude.

Praying the stadium can make all the difference for us. Problem is no matter what we raise our salaries to, City, UTD and Chavski will always be able to pay more.

Still so far this window we have kept all of our top 8 players (probably top 10) which even Barcelona have failed to do.

No, that would be more like Southampton's model of recent years.

We muscle in and sign up some players from those below us, other clubs above us come in and sign players from us. It will always happen and it's not worth fretting about. Life goes on, how many times in the last 5-10 years have we heard we're on the brink of collapse, and things will never get better, for various reasons and yet every time we have regrouped and at the very least held steady and even improved from it.

Reality is there's a hierarchy.

Carrick and Berbatov went to Utd because we were 5th best and they were the best.

Bale and Modric went to Madrid because they are the most glamorous club in Europe.

Walker left to win titles, get a hefty pay increase and it was the right time.

We are not selling simply because of the level of the bid.

If we do sell players for high fees it because the player is of the quality the teams above require. Better than buying a bunch of flops.

We wouldn't be having this thread if we had simply replaced Walker shortly after selling him. We would instead have said Poch thought he had seen his best days, we sold at the highs and Perreira/Cancelo/Heinrich will be better than Walker anyway. The fact we haven't replaced him is just unacceptable incompetence on the part of the bald gnome.
