Are our defensive errors that lead to goals due to our high pressing game?

I'm admittedly not a tatics expert. But is our high press mainly responsible for the goals we leak? If yes, why do you all think Poch is sticking to it? If no, what is responsible then? What do you guys think?

Basic school boy errors. Pass to the bloke in the white shirt you wallies, its quite simple.

Van Gaal said something similar in his post match interview.

I think our players just aren't as good as the teams above us. If you compare our play to that off manure's, you'll have noticed that our players are DESPERATE to get rid of the ball when they receive it. Manure and top footballers are NOT like that they WANT the ball. They hold that ball and WAIT till their comrade is in the right space. If not, they'll continue holding it.

We panic and look to release it because we don't have a single player capable of holding it.

Yesterday was a mistake from a player having a very bad day. Bentaleb will not play as badly again. The rest was decent a controlled.

Our problem is the lack of midfield creativity so one setback becomes a mountain to climb. Getting worried that we are are becoming like the old Arsenal sides who I remember playing five or more centre-backs. The obsession with hordes of DM players is costing us

Imo, and its not just us, everybody seems to be doing it and its costing them, the problem is obvious.
They all stick to piss balling about with the ball on the edge, or even actually inside, their own goal area.
If you insist on continually doing that EVERY TIME you have the ball its easy for the opposition.
Here's what happens-
Spurs GK gets the ball.
Opposition just drop of 10 yds from spurs defence giving them a little bit of room.
Spurs GK WILL DEFINITELY throw the ball to a fb or cb.
Opposition push forward.
Spurs will pass amongst defence unable to get out and will either make a mistake or pass back to GK for a rushed clearence.
Watch yesterdays game again or most from last season.
You have to be less one dimensional than that.
If the GK launches the ball up the field a few times, not every time just sometimes the opposition will have to drop.
If they don't then happy days.
Not only that but you're making a rod for your own back trying to pass your way the entire length of the pitch every time.
We can get a free kick 10 yds in the opposition half and do we launch it into the goal area? Remember that place? It's where the goal is.
No we don't. Its normally a back pass and invariably ends up back wifh our GK.
We are inviting teams to pen us in and putting ourselves under pressure.
Have been since Harry left and until we start mixing it up a bit you'll keep seeing it. Its inevitable.
Actually there was 1 team who didn't do this last season. Chelsea.
And Maureen actually commented on it in the press saying he thought it was hilarious all these teams obsessed by possession, trying 150 passes to get to the other end of the pitch. Why?
Fkers laughing at everyone and they still bloody do it.
Not only is sticking religiously to this method daft, my God its boring.

After the goal yesterday I didn't actually see much of our high pressing game. It was more about our defence easily soaking up Man Utd attacks and our midfield then falling victim to their pressing by getting the passing wrong or being caught in possession.

Many goals last year and the one against United were down to calamitous indivdual errors. The problem is that you just can't coach for these type of errors making them all the more frustrating.

Yesterdays goal was down to Bentaleb's poor pass and Walker, typically, not covering the right CB, allowing Shrek acres of time and space and then bodging his last ditch challenge! But, you can also look at the available midfielers to recieve the ball when moving the ball forward from defence, there is not enough dynamic, intelligent, cohesive movement, thus we end up giving the ball away too cheaply and too often with our defence turned and under pressure. It's been a regular theme of the last few seasons.

We do tend to shoot ourselves in the foot with errors, it's just a mental thing we need to learn quickly having such a young team....these things are gonna happen.

It's not the high press in itself, it's more the inability to keep hold of the ball, A lack of composure, creativity and speed of thought. All of which are essential for this system to work.

despite defensive signings, I still maintain we have a lot of attackers that are square pegs in round holes re the Poch system.

I think it contributes.

Much easier to sit back and defend in numbers but Poch wants to win the ball back in the opposing half.

The high profile game wins possession and leads to chances. There was an example yesterday for the Walker chance.

It's errors and indiscipline that loses games.

Until the next time, whether or not it gets punished.

It appears to me that our biggest problem is lack of communication. Either they're not speaking to each other or not doing it well. If you're going to pass the ball to a team mate who has a player on his back then he has to let them know. That way the receiver can either shield the ball or pass it first time.

The mistake which lead to the goal yesterday had nothing to do with pressing, it was an individual mistake. My biggest concern is the number of times we picked up the ball in midfield facing our own goal and inviting a challenge. One issue is lack of options out wide because that gives us an out ball if we're under pressure.

The pressing game works well for us when we peg the opposition back however when the opposition do the same to us that's where we struggle.
