A CM that can play at RB is basically an Ange right back. Having a player that can cover two positions would also be great.

If we somehow managed to get him, my only worry with this would be loosing Tyrese Hall.

Contract expires 2024 and @Lilywhite Rose believes we have an option to extend to 2025. So probably sold this summer if won’t renew.

If we managed loans correctly, given the age profiles of our three senior CMs, there should be plenty of pathways.

But the player and his advisors may feel differently or have better options elsewhere.

It could also be argued this would be the same issue with any other CM we sign.

Surely this depends on whether we see him (Gray) as a RB or a CM

Perhaps, but in reality even if we sold Emerson, I expect Gray and Bergvall would get any CM minutes ahead of Hall.

Which is also the case with any other CM signing, but given they are all 18 he might see it as more of a career dead end.

Maybe a buy and loan back for a season. Might grease the wheels a bit in what would almost certainly be a very difficult deal to pull off.

Maybe a loan back for a season plus Rodon transfer could put us ahead of other teams? Guess it all depends on if they make it back to the Prem this season.

We from what I am aware, not keen on buy and loan back. Wish we would get away from keep coming up with that scenario

Buy and loan back seems to have worked for Sarr and Udogie.

Makes sense if they got into the PL but still see him as a valuable part of the team. A year with Prem experience would be more valuable than buying him then sending him off to a championship club.

Buying and loaning back can be really helpful for players to continue their growth, whereas they may struggle to get minutes with us initially. Definitely worked for us with Sarr and Udogie, and hopefully it will be the same for Bergvall and Vuskovic.

I think with the money it would take to get this deal done, as club, we wouldnt want this as an option. I think we saw from Nusa once the fee went North we wanted the loan element removed.

Surely we should judge a buy and loan back on a player by player basis, seems like a sensible option in some cases.

I just think Leeds know exactly what a player they have on their hands. They'll want a premium if not a record fee for him and we just won't pay what is required to get him. Still a fair bit to do squad wise and there will better value elsewhere.

That's how I've been reading it. A few reports suggesting they believe they have a potential £100m player on their books.

A buy and loan back surely only makes sense if they don't get promoted and we believe he needs more playing time before playing for us.

I'm not convinced we are going to be paying out that kind of money on a player only to loan him straight back.

I don't think we're getting him but re: loan backs in general.

Surely it depends how much of the fee is payable in year 1?

If like most deals it's a fraction of the fee, if it's a long term target we want to secure, and if we have squad depth such that we can cope for a year without him, why not?

I don't see how else we get £100m players to the club, short of paying £100m for them which we won't do.

The question is more, why would Leeds agree to that?

If they have a player they rate very highly and believe his value is increasing, why sell for a small amount of money in the short term?

Saw him in the Plymouth cup match and he oozed class. Pedigree doesn't always out with footballers as mindset is so important but this guy seems to have it all.
His dad Andy was a great player and uncle Eddie was a class apart.
His pedigree is impeccable but Leeds - hopefully not inextricably.
