Hardly a surprise, considering he was clearly ahead of Doherty and Spence in the pecking order.

Don't think we'd have got much for Emerson in the current climate anyway. He's also young, loves it here and doesn't cause any problems. By contrast, whatever we could have got for Doherty in the next 18 months would have been eaten up by his wages anyway. At least we cleared a squad space which was absolutely necessary.

There are signs of improvement with Emerson and he is still young. He could still come good, just hope fans haven‘t written him off entirely.

It’s got to be Porto to start this weekend though.

Funnily enough i think we'd get plenty for Emerson, as he'd only be bought by a team needing a right back not a wing back. Given his age , fitness and injury record, coupled with the fact he's playing at a top team and coach, i think you'd be surprised at his real value on the transfer market compared to how some fans see it. Wouldn't be shocked if we got around £20m for him if/when he eventually goes.

I'll reiterate what iv'e said in his player thread, i think he's no where near as bad a player as is made out, he suffered greatly when Kulu was missing and he had to be the creative player down the right side, which he just can't do, but he's full of energy, makes decent off ball runs (inside and out) and will be ideal to bring on in games where we need a bit more defensive stability (CL away legs for example).

Would love to see Porro but I can't see any changes from the usual lineup happening, sadly. Shame if so because it's a bit of a free hit on current form.

I know very little of Porro but clearly he's an attacking wing-back so it makes sense Conte keeps Royal to provide balance; should he wish for a more defensive approach in certain games, he'll turn to Royal (probably Sunday). Porro is like-for-like replacing Doherty.

Yeah he'll be on the bench, probably will come on with Danjuma if we need a goal.

I found some of the Spurs fans comments about Emerson to be nothing but disgraceful. Also it doesn't help when Internet personalities like Expressions Oozing spend their time burying the guy even more.
