I think we probably have to accept the intention was never to sign both Fati and Johnson anyway. Could almost start to think it is all part of a constructed script in order to make it seem that we are trying to be ambitious. To sell Kane and replace by Brennan Johnson. Without any disrespect to Brennan Johnson, that is farcial.

Don't worry everyone

I'm sure losing Fati to Brighton is a crucial stage in Project Kane

Next step...we sign nobody else instead to lull everyone into a false sense of security

Happy considering it was a dry loan

No interest in us acting as a get our players fit club

If he has been any good Barca would have taken him back or Chelsea would have just bought him

Could easily have been us pulling out

It doesn’t seem we lost out to Brighton. More that we walked away because Barcelona wouldn’t agree to an obligation/option.
you'll not inject reason where there is an route to spout hate at the club some proport to support.... 😬

Barca probably hoping Fati will be the answer to their financial problems - one year at Brighton and Chelsea will pay 10x the going rate for him next summer

I just don't understand why something so black and white as whether the loan has an option/obligation or not wasn't decided on early. How can something be 99% done and THAT be the 1%? Shouldn't this be part of the first conversation? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

Some horrible takes in here.

You take the gamble on him like the lot up the road did with Odegaard. He's 20 years old, a generational talent, and produced 14 G/A in 20 90s worth of minutes last season.

It actually makes it worse to me that Brighton want him. If we got gazumped on a loan fee by Chelsea or some club with no strategy - that's one thing.

When trying to go for a rebuild, you need to take some risks.
Agreed. I don't give a solitary fuck that it was "just a loan" - the kid is magical and he's going to absolutely fly with Brighton. He might not have been a central, long term part of our rebuild but he would've been a hell of an addition, even for a season, even as "just a loan".

I think Fati may well be a bullet dodged BUT the fact remains that once again we're going to be left short in key areas and will still have a bunch of players to shift in Jan/summer. Pathetic.
