Honestly, if they insisted on no buy/obligation then I can understand it falling apart. Brighton likely just said yes to what was offered and that's why he is going there.

Was expecting to wake up to the news of this collapsing, happened earlier than normal

To be fair, if we couldn't agree an option to buy him and all they were offering was a basic loan then I can understand why Levy said no. If it's something other than this however then I give up (again)

Bit embarrassing to get pipped to the post by Brighton but the deal made very little sense to me on so many levels.

Like, he's obviously v.talented, but as a very expensive straight loan for a predominantly left sided player (our most over-stacked position) who doesn't really seem like a natural fit for Ange in a season when we have the lowest number of games in about 15 years...just why?

Honestly not that cut up about it (although he'll tear it up at Brighton now ofc).

Interesting move if he ends up at Brighton. Also talk of them taking Emile Smith Rowe on loan to.

I’d rather Johnson on a perm anyway but this sucks balls to be losing out to Brighton 🤦‍♂️

I wonder if we might look again at Porto’s Pepe if we really do want to sign 2.

My ‘been here before’ hat suggests we will sign only Johnson at absolute best and it’ll be YET AGAIN a very underwhelming leaving us short end to a window as per fucking usual.

It doesn’t seem we lost out to Brighton. More that we walked away because Barcelona wouldn’t agree to an obligation/option.

I'm sure there is a plan B and C etc. It's not like we go into the last day of the transfer window without a clear plan and strategy... chillll

Oh.

Used by an agent and a bigger club yet again?! The sheer fucking incompetence of our board is incredible.
Hats off though, losing a player to Brighton is probably a new low

All said and done, is a LW/Inside forward still going to be a priority this summer or was this simply down to an opportunity with Fati they wanted to explore?

Moves collapsed this fucking club. Daniel said no as they couldn’t agree on certain conditions after the work put in fuck this shit . Night y’all
I would guess the immediate thinking was pretend to walk, and maybe they will buckle in a day or two… and Brighton just rocked straight up, said sure coz we only keep players for a year before they go to Chelsea anyway, and we are left holding our ball going, hey. You… only joking…
