No point getting emotional over a player that most of us have not watched play 90 minutes for Inter.. There are other good players need to secure one of those.. I am surprised Conte and Paratici wasted so much time on this...

I wouldn't be surprised if they've been leading us on but behind our backs have been trying to push Skriniar and others out.

Maybe theyve had some movement here so are now shutting Bastoni from leaving.

That all sounds like good business. If, at the end of the day they need to raise money, having someone ready to buy a player you'd rather not lose while you try and find a suitor for a player you'd much rather go seems sensible.

Inter might be a nightmare to deal with by all accounts, but they're doing it for the best of their club.

Tbf if we buy a LCB that’s very good I’m sure Conte can make him great. So I’m excited by whoever we buy.

Said all along I thought we'd end up with Torres. The fact they want GLC and we want rid of him makes it too convenient not to push that way. We have been in talks so hopefully if we do go this route it will be fairly easy.

Inter are a nightmare to deal with even when you meet the asking price we've been there and done it a few times now. What usually happens is they say no, then a couple of days later you get a bit more encouragement from them, restart negotiations and rinse and repeat with the details changing every time you sit down with them. At least we've reached this point early and have been working on other options. It's a big miss but the positives are that we will have money to spend elsewhere now.

And that shouldn't be understated. I'm sure we would have felt the money for Bastoni would have been worth it, but if we can reach a deal for Torres using GLC and thus saving a chunk of money as a result, it may enable us to get higher quality in another area of the pitch than we may have thought possible. You never know, further down the line we may end up saying it wasn't such a bad thing that we missed out on Bastoni as it's enable us to sign *insert player(s)*.

Never truly expected this to happen and it was very clear from the beginning that he doesn't want to come, so at least we can be happy that this is quickly over and can prepare ourselves for the next meltdown?
