Well I'd imagine this is where other Clubs could potentially swoop in if we don't get a bid in ourselves quite timely.
True, although Bastoni has quite a bit of leverage here. If our hope re Bastoni’s love of Conte is accurate then the larger danger is other clubs swooping in for another Inter player that would solve Inter’s cash problems and/or Inter’s replacement options for Bastoni. E.g. Chelsea swooping in for Bremer and Man Utd paying way over market for Martinez. We would benefit greatly if a replacement acceptable to Inter’s fans is locked down soon.

they can still put the money on this year's accounts as it's a guaranteed income, or so I believe.
Fair. I wasn't certain the exact issues at inter. I know for FFP you can book the entire sale into one year, but wasn't sure if they had a legit cash issue

Thing is with deals like this it’s one thing to agree a few it’s another thing then when that fee is then known in the right circles and teams start gazumping us. Unless the player is fully on board.

Wouldn’t be surprised Conte has challenged Levy to put his money where his mouth us. “Sign this guy and I’ll commit”.

The club or agent will always put the word out. You've just got to take your swing and hope for the best

And Ake (obviously Ake nowhere near as good, but they signed him last summer).
I swear they buy these guys just to ensure no one else can. I especially feel that with alvarez, they got him just in case haaland doesn't commit to em. He did, now they can just loan out alvarez 3-4 seasons then just sell him to a juventus for 50 mil

Such a weird move for Alvarez. Haaland will be at Man City for years. He isn’t displacing him. So essentially he’s signed up to be the next Jesus. Instead he could have joined any number of big clubs and been a starter week in week out and see him explode as a huge star in his own right.

Silly move from the players camp.

They bought Alvarez before Haaland didn't they? He wouldn't have known then that was gonna happen. A manager like Pep is a big drawer for most players, even if they are gonna be a rotation option

The whole footballing world knew for the last year at least that his destination was either City or Madrid. I just think with so many top teams needing first choice strikers it’s a weird move for him.

He's not a striker, he's a second striker or wing forward? He's basically being drafted in as the next Mahrez in the squad? That's how I saw it anyway.

This is where having a lump sum of cash actually available this summer could come in handy. We might be able to pay a much bigger percentage up front on a couple of key targets to get them over the line.

I’m trying not to get hopes up on Bastoni though. It seems too good to be true.
Exactly what I was thinking. Most transfers will be paid in installments but right now cash on the table would be exactly what Inter need. ENIC have given us a considerable advantage with their £150 million cash injection as we can provide much needed liquidity to clubs to get a deal done.
