is this the bit where para is also offering on Bremer so forces Inter to lower their price for Bastoni? Or through some other slight of hand Gollini ends up at Torino and everything else falls into place? Without the need for Horses' heads.

As others have said, I reckon if we get the green light from Perisic we'll then move quickly for Bastoni. Save the funds that would have to be spent on Kostic and allocate them towards this guy who seems to be the number 1 target for the window.

To be honest I'd imagine once signing on fee and likely higher wages are taken into account there won't be much difference in the total package between Perisic and Kostic. I imagine Perisic is just preferred because Conte knows and loves him and has elite experience.

Hearing very similar regarding Bastoni.

Perisic preferred to Kostic but speaking to both and it'll only be one or the other.
UNREAL updates thanks Trix!! Bastoni would be a serious upgrade on Davies and Kostic and Perisic are both world class wing-backs, there aren't many better around than either of them.

Kostic 29 (30 in nov), Perisic 33 (34 in feb)

I prefer Perisic as a player and his experience would be great but Kostic is in his prime and would last a few seasons more than Perisic so pros and cons of both but either would be gamechangers on the LWB side.

I think if Perisic does join then that is absolutely Conte's choice. And that I am happy with. If we get 2 brilliant seasons out of Perisic, whilst allowing Sess to develop then I'm very happy with that.

Ben Davies has been performing out of his skin for us but his lack of pace and world class reading of the game showed up in the NLD for example when he got spun and had to take his man down, not saying that will never happen to Bastoni or other defenders but you tend to see if more often that you'd like with Davies whereas a Romero or previously likes of Toby and Jan it would happen very very rarely, Bastoni would be the same level.

There's going to be so many games and 5 subs that Davies will be kept happy.

Does anyone on here (far more capable than me) have the ability to share the thoughts of inter Milan fans on the prospect of selling A Bastoni to us?

What are their thoughts? Any of them happy and think we are making a mistake?

The complete opposite, they are gutted and think that Inter are the ones making a mistake. The majority view is that his particular skillset is irreplaceable

I wouldn't pay too much attention to oppo fans when selling players. Remember Juve's re Kulu and Bentancur? They were apparently terrible and happy to get rid.

Ben is a model professional and I’m sure he’s aware of his own weaknesses.

He’s the last player who I would expect to kick up a fuss if he’s not playing ?

With him and Bastoni we’d have two great options at LCB.

They recognise his play making ability and ability to get forward is hugely important to their attacking platform. They think bremer is a better defender but don’t think it’s worth swapping them as they’ll lose too much going forward.
They think it is a huge mistake.

I’m trying to imagine that FB will approach Inter with a £45m (or £50m) offer and tell them that they need to give us a reply within the next 48hrs. If the deal isn’t done, then we will go all out on Bremer (to put the pressure on Inter, knowing that they need to sell to raise funds).

The Conte effect will be huge as far as Bastoni is concerned, for an Italian who has also worked with him and won the league with him before... I cannot see united or chelsea being a better option for him right now.

Only City and Liverpool are ahead of us, thats how much I rate Conte's influence. Wages permitting of course....

Bringing in winners who have been through a title challenge will have a huge positive impact on our mentality.

Agree there are certainly pluses and negatives to both. One big up side to us bringing in Bastoni and Perisic is that they are used to playing with each other and already have an excellent understanding. This would benefit both whilst adjusting to a new league.

He can also provide emergency cover for LWB or be brought on as a more defensive option in that position to see out a game.
