It's all about hierarchy for some people.Lazy gits? Maybe people realise life isn't just about working. When is all this technology actually going to give more free time, when will we be able to work less and enjoy life more. All I see is people working longer hours for less money.
Anyone who has worked in an office will be able to testify that, for many, promotion is about access to professional bullying - and not about leadership. Some people's self-worth is based on putting others down, rather than being lifted up by them. Being able to force people into an office and order them around is part of the power trip, and making sure people aren't as happy as them, in their position of Assistant
In Alan's case, he's just a fake lefty really. He's made a lot of money (no doubt both TV and otherwise) out of, effectively, pooling together a bunch of complete twats (usually upper-middle class), throwing them a pool cue, and letting them fight to the death to win the position of "supreme twat", so he can "fire" someone he never hired in the first place, all so they can make him money.
At the end of the day, a sterling billionaire is only ever someone who has a somewhat unfair share of £1000 that millions don't. I have no problems with that concept as long as it is transparent and frank, but I often think Alan likes to have his cake and eat it.
