Didn't we have ITK saying this was now gone or that it was going to be difficult? Maybe L'Equipe are behind on this?

Pointless.

Makes perfect sense to me.

Very unlikely we can sell Dembele, Paulinho, and Capoue in January for realistic fees.

But we could easily loan a couple out, or sell one and loan one.

Far easier to sell them in the summer if they've been playing, than sitting on our bench.

In the meantime, Rabiot would rotate with Mason - who would still get plenty of minutes.

Mason is probably being over played as it is, and could also get some minutes as a no.10.

How long would you say it takes to settle in a new country and new league?

Would you rather not blood one of our own instead of someone else's?

Legitimate concern given recent history, but I don't think there's a hard and fast rule about how long it takes to settle.

Some players instantly, some a month to a year, some never will.

We have 7 or 8 French speaking players, and we're 1 hour from Paris by train.

Plus I have greater confidence in Broomfield scouting these issues than previous buys.

Hypothetically, Rabiot would come to rotate with Mason in place of players we want rid of.

Dembele, Paulinho, and Capoue.

MP would seemingly rather play Mason and Bentaleb to death than play these 3 (or Stambouli come to think of it).

So we could do with a viable alternative to start in the PL, which Rabiot certainly is.

In my opinion exciting talents like Winks and Onomah are nowhere near ready to take that role of "top 3" central midfielders.

If they were I'd be inclined to agree with you, but better for their development to give one a loan, and the other minutes off the bench.

Not our highest priority, but if the deals there to be done - INs and OUTs - I think would improve us.

If Dembele, Paulinho, Capoue go we are left with only Stambouli, Bentaleb & Mason as CM options. If Bentaleb is going off to the ACN Rabiot on loan makes perfect sense even if we manage to bring in another big name CM such as Schneiderlin.

We can always also try to insert a buy clause which would make a loan even more worthwhile.

I think the main reason this is under consideration as a loan is to cover for Bentaleb going off to the ANC.

That's an interesting thought. Even then, especially since I think we have more cover for the position than we did at striker with Ade two years ago, I still think there'd have to be a buyout clause for us to take this route.

Possibly. Seems odd that he has just signed a new contract if PSG want rid though.

Very true. It very well may be just as simple as freeing up funds to address other positions. Considering he'd be getting much more playing time, and in the Premier League, Levy could probably coerce PSG into also paying a significant portion of his wages (possibly even all of them).

Loaning is not a bad idea at all. I recall some ITK a couple of years back, that basically stated that we now always build an agreed buy-out price into loan agreements. If this is the case, then I have no problem with the idea - plus the cover for Nabil going to the ACN.

Yeah, but I think the likelihood of that is very small in light of @JUSTINSIGNAL pointing out the fact that Rabiot just signed a new contract. Would be very strange for them to do that for only two months of service.

But might they be doing the same as us, getting a new contract signed to maximise sale value?
