I’m finding the collective losing of shit by people on Twitter very funny. They want any reason to blame somebody for something so just grasping at any part of the reason why this transfer didn’t happen to bash the club with. Very amusing.
It's not just twitter, there's loads on here too

A deal like this should've been done rather quickly Trix. I respect your opinions but we've tried loan to buy, haggled over fee etc. The delay appears to have allowed Barca to seize in and take him no?
I am continually amazed that people still hold this view. There is nothing simple or quick or easy about negotiating a transfer. Undoubtedly it's harder today than it ever has been. Thanks to all the lovely money that Sky has brought to the table, while we can now hold off selling our top players to the likes of City or United, we can also no longer push a club like Wolves around. They don't need our money like they used to do, and can afford to run down the clock and flush out another buyer or two, just like they have done.

Oh no, Twitter is a whole different ball game. There’s a lot of angry people out there who unfortunately know how to work electronic devices.
Yeah they're a different breed for sure. But there's 1 or 2 here at least that would give them a run for their money

Can we cover Doherty in baby oil instead?

preferably at the top of a flight of stairs.... I joke.

This is one of those transfer sagas that I currently do not care about. But when the window closes and we've got no one I will come back here like Traore was our only savior! I'm fickle like that.

Of course, it is what it is. That doesn't alter the fact it has been him holding it up all along, and not a couple of million pounds we were supposedly haggling over.
This is an interesting one as if he goes to Barca now and Mendez has been playing silly buggers with us then surely common sense will tell you we will try to avoid doing business with him in future if he’s particularly troublesome as you point out Trix.

I mean his pool of players isn’t that massive or so influential that if we decided to not deal with him we’d have no where to turn to sign any new players.

Unless it’s just a case that most top level football agents will play teams off against each other to get the best deal, seems like Vhalovic’s agent has been doing the same recently.

Football is a funny old ‘business’, always has been always will be although of course the huge influxes of money over the last 20-30 years have changed things dramatically.

Anyways what will be will be, I’d just like to think that with Paratici knowing how he operates he will have multiple targets for each position so if Traore falls through in theory it won’t be the end of the world, we’d just change our strategy this window a bit.

Say Conte has said when he joined that between now and start of next season he wants us to sign the following :
RWB
LCB
CM
AM
ST

Mabye the strategy for Jan was RWB priority and that is Traore, we then try to get a body in to do a job for CM and mabye look for an ‘opportunity’ for AM or ST (Diaz).

If Traore falls through then mabye that makes it easier for us to stretch the budget for an ‘attacking opportunity’ Diaz and then we try get a better stop gap CM, so it’s all a balancing and juggling act, there will have been a plan but it will also need to be fluid to react to the merry-go-round of the market.

I get that people are burnt by levy in the past and I’m no Levy defender but he did spend money when the stadium was open but just recruitment and Poch got it wrong, we now have Paratici pulling the strings and we’ve heard we are waiting on some funding which should arrive before summer.

Sure it could all go tits up but it does feel like it’s a bit different this time around with Conte, Levy will know he needs to make this work and whilst I’m realistic and ready for an underwhelming January, I won’t throw my toys out the pram until the start of next season and only if we don’t significantly strengthen in summer I think we will do.

A lot on here could maybe do with a bit of perspective and patience but sure it come start of next season we haven’t strengthened then I’ll eat my words, until then let’s all try and relax a bit

someone sent me this link (spanish) and it might have been posted elsewhere in the threads/site/

Supposedly it has Mendes all over it:

1) Wolves pay Adama's salary until end of season and Barca pay minimum required by La liga
2) Wolves buy Trincao but the buy option has Adama's salary deducted from the total

I can't read spanish and have no access to that site so could just be BS but would explain why he held up the sale
It's Catalan.

"

The Wolves will buy Trincão

It is a four-way game involving Barça, Wolverhampton, Adama ... and Francisco Trincão. The young Portuguese striker was on loan to the Wolves this summer - precisely because Barça needed to release too much salary. However, Xavi does not have him and the Barça club is already looking forward to selling him for good in the Premier League. The key is the non-binding purchase option of the Wolves, which is around 30 million euros, an amount that is now being negotiated to speed up the return of Adama. After all, this exchange is already going well for the Premier League club. Although Adama and Trincão have similar statistics, during the first half of the season Trincão is having more prominence in recent games. He is also three years younger, which still carries more than

What's the play? As Barça cannot afford Adama's salary at the moment, the Wolves will be in charge of their record until the end of the season. The Barça club, therefore, would only pay a testimonial amount. The difference would be deducted from the money that the Wolves would have to pay to Barça in the summer to keep Trincão in ownership. Negotiations are going in this direction, and they may incorporate a small bonus for the English club as a thank you. In this way, Barça would have found an ingenious but totally legal way for Adama to return to the Camp Nou."

Must be some 'creative' accounting on the go with this.

They're basically giving away a first team player for 6 months, that'll be worth much less by then. Granted, they'll save a bit on wages, but I can't see that being significant.

Why would someone pay €30m for a player in his final 12 months that simply isn't worth that now? Must be a lot of "faith" that Barca are going to pony up additional cash to compensate for it all.

See post above. Mendes, corruption, loopholes basically

We are a dithering club. He could have been a strong addition at RWB in a 343 or 352. Our low ball bids are tiresome as ever, reflecting our silly attempts to be "tough" negotiators, and dire indecision on football strategy.

The man said he doesn’t want to play in that position. So what is the point of him coming.

Every single thing about this transfer on football Twitter for the last month has only in the last 24 hours been shown to be complete fantasy, so I'm not about to start believing any sour grapes digs at Spurs on there now, that's for sure!

Bryan's response to the tweets about himself yesterday showed a lot of this transfer chat up for the fraudulent clickbait that it is.

If Barcelona has come in for Traore, seeing as he was born down the road and is one of their own academy players, then we *never* had a realistic chance to sign him this window, so it seems a massive waste of time to try and take shots at the club about it imo.

What is interesting, is that no-one outside of Tottenham gives a rat's arse who Tottenham are/aren't signing.

There may be a cursory "were you in for Traore?" but nothing more than that. Outside of this Tottenham and Twitter bubble, there are very few people who think "OMG it's so embarrassing, look at what Spurs are doing". That's mainly Spurs fans assuming that people will care and/or give them stick about it.

They don't; and in my experience they won't. And I'm friends with an unhealthy number of West Ham fans. The ****s.

It seems that Traore is as slippery off the pitch as he is on it.
