I don't get the infatuation with the need to cross. We desperately need someone who can drive the ball to the byline and cut it back. It drives me mad when wingers/fullbacks are just hitting early crosses all the time.
Exactly! That's something Gary Neville used to do very well when he and Beckham worked those right side triangles for Man U in the SAF days. A nice diagonal cutback ensured that anyone running on to the ball was onside by a mile, whatever the defenders did.

If wolves want the funds to reinvest presumably this cannot drag on until deadline day as then their motivation to sell must be a lot lower?

I don't think Wolves are all that fussed whether they bring a replacement in now or later. They aren't challenging for the top spots in the league and they aren't at risk of relegation, so there's no real sense of urgency to their situation.

Getting a decent fee now and then reinvesting when there's more opportunity in the summer, would be the sensible thing to do; especially so for a club of moderate means.

We, on the other hand, could really do with AT now as Champions League qualification is a realistic target.

Which all equates to us not getting Traore on the cheap this window. They will be able to get £15M for him in the summer, so why accept that now and lose a player? If they are not replacing him this window, and we are not offering above his market value, they do not need to sell.

I agree

But there's also the Mendes (or is it Mendez?) angle; he has an awful lot of influence at that club

They’ve already signed a winger this window and Pedro Neto has just returned to training so I don’t think it’s a huge issue for them when/if Traore goes.

Am I the only one who doesn't really want Traore?
I'm with you , all this talk about him playing RWB , he is a flamboyant player would he have the discipline to be up and down the right side tracking back etc , not so certain he would. Maybe Conte did the trick with Moses but not everyone can adjust like that.

Personally I think he would be a terrific player for us and will thrive in the system Conte plays and linking up with Kane.

His best form at Wolves was linking up with Jiminez before his skull injury which he still hasn't got over
