Adama Traore

The question is: do you want us to sign Adama Traore? As many as are of that opinion say

Who could have guessed deadline day would end with a doomed attempt for one of a PL competitor's best players?

Is just a bit of a shame really, not looking forward to either one of Lucas or Bergwijn on the wings all season, unless Gil excels.

We may have had a better chance at doing this deal at a reasonable price had we acted earlier in the window, before the season started and it became pretty obvious how essential he was to Wolves under Lage.

Seems like it's totally dead now, as I don't see Levy suddenly deciding he wants to spend £40m if he's averse to it right now.

He'll likely continue his good start to the season, refuse to sign a contract and then only have one year left which will mean a lower fee.

But this will bring Liverpool and co to the table.

The way people are making him out it’s amazing that none of the top clubs have come in for him. I mean a big fast player who’s only 25 who always beats him man who can pick out a pass and lay it on a plate for his team mates sounds ideal. All the big clubs should be clamouring for him shouldn’t they? Maybe they will after this season if he carries on but my money woukd be on Traore not improving in the areas he needs to improve on. If we sign him I hope he does obviously.

Fair point.

But why have no big clubs come in for the likes of Son, Lloris, Alderweireld (even with a ridiculous low exit clause) etc etc?

A big club not coming in for a player just isn't any measurement of a players ability.

This thing is, it was always going to cost £40m+. And we surely knew that. What the F happened to all these other deals Fab had lined up? Yet again putting all our eggs in an unattainable basket. Or whatever metaphor works.

It's interesting that in reply to my question of will he score 10 goals himself none of you have said yes. If a chance falls to him in the last minute of a game at 0-0 a £50m forward should show you why you paid that money for him. I bet he wouldn't though.

We've got a £150M+ striker who had a chance fall to him about a yard out on Sunday & he missed it.

No wonder City didn't pony up what we demanded.

Exactly where I think he'll end up next and we'll be fucking kicking ourselves.

You seem to be in the mood to attempt to wind members up?

Sorry if I'm wrong. I just don't think it would really be necessary when it's a day where people's emotions seem to be magnified immeasurably, for some reason.

Just let people enjoy Deadline Day & see what unfolds.

Also, there'll be no need to come back this evening to tell everyone "I told you so" if this, or any other deals don't come off. People will feel shit enough mate.

Told you so ????

Not even half the fucking day

Thank fuck school holidays aren't far from over.

Have to say, I'm not overly convinced 40mil was a good use of funds on this guy. Not my money and all that.. would have been happy if we got him but convinced it would have been a game changer.. can't say that.

Out of interest, what's the deal with this kind of thing?

Seen it a few times (empty post, many funny ratings) but I'm not sure if I'm not seeing something, or I'm not 'getting' it?

I still have a tiny hope, was listening to a podcast where a journalist was saying that Wolves were broke and need to get something in.

Hoping the closing up talk is a ploy to lower the price.

Yeah - I think if you'd asked most fans at the beginning of the window how they would feel about spending 50m on Adama Traore most would've laughed and said no chance. It's only now after the carrot has been dangled and he's become our main attacking target that it's become a massive disappointment not to sign him.

I think he would've been an interesting signing but 50m does strike me as an awful lot for him and, if anything, I'm more concerned about the lack of alternative options rather than us not overpaying for Traore.
