Adama Traore

The question is: do you want us to sign Adama Traore? As many as are of that opinion say

So bored with this conversation - dozens of pages of the same stuff like it’s on loop.

We know some people believe he’ll add nothing, whilst others believe he’d be a great addition.

We know his end product isn’t great, but he has some other great traits and attributes.

Is anyone going to change their opinion based on a post here? Thought not

But what about his end product...

One point that needs to be addressed is for any new incoming non home grown players some existing non home grown players need shifting. So unless SA/MS get shifted we are up shit creek without a paddle. In all honesty would you be happy taking either with wage demands? This does also raise the question why get rid of Hart and loose a spot when not essential

Do you know how many Non-HG spots we have available? Or are you guessing that we don't have any open spots?

I maybe wrong but reading another blog today they stated we were maxed out for non home grown players and unless some of the deadwood is moved out we cannot bring in

We currently have 14 non-HG players (by the PL definition) in the squad - so could add 3 more, even if nobody leaves. We would have to leave 1 or 2 out of the Euro squad though.

He also completely fluffed a 1-on-1 (twice in 2 games) and hit a shot which went out for a throw-in. When you weigh it up that isn't more than acceptable.
All these “ooh his shot went for a throw in” comments are way OTT. I saw Salah hit one out last season, pretty sure I’ve seen Son do it as well. On that basis are they bad players?
he’s not a natural goal scorer and I’ve not seen anyone claim that, but he scares the absolute shit out of opposition defenders. Teams won’t know where to start when facing a front three of him, Kane and Son.

Personally, I believe that he has the attributes similar to those of Dembele. Strong on the ball, quicker and he doesn’t always have to have the assist. Causing mayhem and box to box maybe his role in the Spurs side.

This better be in addition to another goal scorer, not in place of. Or are Son and Kane just expected to bag 30 goals each this season? We haven’t replaced Bale or Vinicius (22 goals combined), and Scarlett will do extremely well to even match Vinicius’ EL output (6 in 9 I think).

I see a worrying lack of goals in this team right now.

Ok, with the Kane news, I have slightly changed re Adama. If Nuno wants him, I can handle it

However, I still truly believe we are better signing Tomiyasu and at least 1 mid to help PEH/Skipp.

We are ok with wingers imo, but if the club wants Adama, I am ok.

Still think Kane and Son should be getting rested every Thursday until the latter stages of the ECL. As such, we obviously need a striker capable of scoring a hatful on Thursdays (much like Vinicius did).

Even just a loan for a decent striker would be fine if we're bringing in Adama too. Adama at the cost of an actual striker though - I don't see how that works.

I think Nuno and the club's view is that Scarlett will play the "Back up Striker" role in Europe and Son for the PL, and given it's the Conference League, I'm fine with that.

Scarlett's a fantastic prospect, and it's a great opportunity to fast track him for next season. Developing players is the only reason I would care about the UCL personally.

If you then take Europe out of the equation and imagine we're building an attacking "roster" for the PL and latter FA and League Cup rounds, suddenly prioritising resources at RWF and using Son and Scarlett in this way doesn't seem quite so crazy.

Like most people, I'd feel a lot happier with a proven PL ready no.9 on the bench, but it's a weird role to fill.

As has been said we won't get a back striker better than Son overall, so all they would bring is better hold up play, which they're not going to be better at than Adama.

It's not my preferred outcome, but I can see the thinking behind it.

My case for why Traore does have end product in final third :

IMO, The only season that anyone has to use as a benchmark for Traore is his 19/20 season. Thats the only season, where he was playing with competent in form forwards in Jota & Jiminez. Last season , there was no Jota. And Jiminez was injured. He had to play RWB alongside back 3 for half games with no proper forwards or he himself was made the striker towards the end of the campaign.

Traore's take ons ball recoveries, take-ons is world class- he is probably the best (or one of the best) in all of top5 league in almost all his PL season.

Three best crossers in recent years - KDB, Trent, Hakimi...Traore's end product of crossing done and crossing accuracy of 2019/20 was at this level. His crossing accuracy in 19/20 was equal to Trent in Liverpool title winning season, where Trent was hailed as the best crosser. Only KDB is on a whole new level when it comes to crossing.

Traore does have a problem one v one when he is through on goal. Something he has to work on. But we do so much disservice to him when we say all his output in final third is useless - thats wrong.

Lennon was a great winger for us. But one of his constant criticism was his crossing. Every time his criticism starts with 'If only Lennon could cross...' Traore is that speed merchant , who is a world class dribbler and who can cross.

Get him in the same side as Son & Kane, watch the duo take their scoring/assist record to another level

Kane staying with us which is good news, but that means we would not get £150 million to spend. And we just spent a little bit for Sarr. The question is do we have enough money to sign Traore? Or someone else? I mean other than Ndombele, I never heard anyone interested in any of our players that we are trying to sell.

We have been led to believe there’s money available regardless of Kane staying
