Ok a couple of things. Does anybody have to turn up the tv when AVB is on?

Regarding the Adam tackle on bale how do you think harry would handle this situation? Im sure he said there was no intent in his 1st tackle on bale at whl, went for the ball, triffic lad, triffic top top top twitch triffic twitch.

Im impressed how AVB has spoken out on this, maybe we will see a response similar when we get screwed over by officials i.e the semi final ghost goal.
Refs may fear the wrath of AVB where as with harry it was all ' honest mistake blah blah blahhh

I like the cut of his jib

WHAT THE FUCK DOES IT MATTER WHAT REDKNAPP WOULD SAY!!!!!!???????

Let sleeping dogs lie, for the love of god.

But yeah.....I agree, I like AVB. A lot. More than a friend at the moment. I'm excited.

Your opening post and the thread title don't go hand in hand.

It matters as this will benifit us, straight out of the special one managers handbook. AVB is a winner

Redknapp didnt want to upset anyone

A new mentality from what redknapp did to how AVB is going to handle things! Whats hard to understand ?

I'm more bothered about the points we get on the pitch to be honest.

Let's not start with this bollocks. AVB has a LOT to prove after his debacle at Chelsea, he's got 100% support from all of us which is good, but let's not get ideas above our station.

why it matters what redknapp might have done or said in a similar situation. that's what i find hard to understand.

i've got no problem with villas boas at all. i hope he goes on to great things. all of this: 'avb's farts, less smelly than redknapp's?' stuff does him no favours though. the only thing that he'll be judged on is results. which is as it should be. those that wanted redknapp out have got their wish. it does the new man no favours at all to constantly be compared to the old manager favourably or unfavourably.

Harry didn't like to criticise, AVB doesn't hesitate to speak his mind.

Its not new, just different.

you know that villas boas and mourinho are different people, right? and also that mourinho is currently, (and has always been), at clubs with a significant financial advantage over more or less all of their domestic rivals. villas boas is at a club that stands 6th in the table in terms of resources domestically.

villas boas was the opposition scout for mourinho and there's a lot more to being a manager than knowing where the x's and o's are supposed to be. i fear you are building your expectations of villas boas up too much. he is in his honeymoon period currently where literally everything he does is seen in a positive light by some and anyone preaching caution is rounded up and burned for heresy. give him time to fail and you'll give him time to succeed. all of this, 'it's new, it's avb, it's not redknapp therefore it must be great', stuff is ultimately not good for him.

When a new manager comes in there's always optimism and a belief that everything he does will benefit the club.

People weren't happy with Graham's appointment but many believed his strict disciplinarian ways would get better results.

Hoddle came in and his love for Spurs and desire to play attractive football was apparently going to get us to the top. Unlike that Graham who was too strict.

Santini's experience of winning a title and managing at international level was going to instill the right mentality to our squad. Unlike that Hoddle who was just out for himself.

Jol's people skills and likeable personality was going to make for a happier camp which would lead to better team morale and therefore better results. Unlike that Santini who couldn't speak English.

Ramos' strict disciplinarian ways and attention to fitness was going to bring us to the next level and make us a more professional bunch. Unlike that Jol who would rather be the players friend.

Redknapp's trust in the players to be adults would get the best out of them. Unlike that Ramos who tried to control everything.

Now we have AVB who says what he wants to the press whether it makes him popular or not. This is apparently going to make the refs afraid of him and get us some decisions we wouldn't have under Redknapp. Unlike that Redknapp who would rather be friends with the press than say what he really thinks.

i don't remember much of this being the case at all.

As I remember it there was an outcry.

Santini's experience of winning a title and managing at international level was going to instill the right mentality to our squad.
Eh? I can distinctly remember Santini's appointment bringing widespread disbelief.

Jol's people skills and likeable personality was going to make for a happier camp which would lead to better team morale and therefore better results.
This is basically a reflection of the Martin Jol we came to know during his tenure, not when he was appointed.

Jol spoke of the winning mentality, then we had the lassez faire attitude of Redknapp. And according to most, the strict disciplinarian AVB. How would our players adapt? That's the key to our season.

lol if AVB gets similar results ie, 4th 5th 4th in his first few seasons to what Harry done I will be impressed, not by how he impresses me during press conferences. All behind AVB and want him to do well but why the constant "Harry this Harry that" short term fucking memories on here, lets wait to the first few competitive games shall we.

Having a scream and a whine is proven to work in my opinion it sows a seed in the mind, redknapp was gentle with us because of the FA but at previous clubs he said his bit.

I hope AVB is intelligent and has a go when necessary but not a wenger who just makes any excuse up about well anything!

Spot on mate, How many times do arsenal, city, liverpool, chelsea & united get screwed over like we do?

Not nearly as many. We were a soft touch under redders regarding decsions. any of the other top clubs would have gone ballistic after the chelsea match

Depends who you ask. If you ask a Spurs fan he'll likely remember all of the times we've been hard done by and claim there's some massive discrepancy and Tottenham are hard done by due to whatever fanciful bollocks he wants to cling to. If you ask a Liverpool fan he'll say the same only replacing the word 'Tottenham' with 'Liverpool'.

Effectively you're talking crap. Refs are equally shit to all clubs over time, give or take. The likes of United probably get a few more decisions, just like Liverpool did when they were on top, but there won't really be much in it. It's a myth. I also fail to see how this can be laid at Redknapp's door and it's even more baffling to me that anyone would think Villas Boas is suddenly going to be able to do anything about it either.
