I’m really quite relaxed about this.

I’d like to be in the CL obviously, especially as the new format should make things a little more exciting and there’s the money and profile too.

But when we sold Harry two days before the first game of the season, I along with most other people thought there was precisely zero chance we’d be anywhere near 4th spot with 6 games to go.

On that basis we have had a good season (the Fulham, Caraboa cup game aside, which still rankles).

We wont win the CL, but we could win the Europa, if we take it seriously and our players treat it with respect and importance, and not as if the competition is somehow beneath them, as i believe we have in the past.

6 games left, give it your all, dont you dare show up as we did against Fulham and Newcastle with lethargy and complacency, and lets see where this goes

As long as we don't blow 5th I'm good this season. Beat Arsenal and whatever happens, happens.

Feels like a season of what might have been. If we hadn't lost so many players against Chelsea we could have been up there in the title race.

Bit worried the wheels are gonna fall off for the rest of the season and undo all the good work we'd done so far.

Would love to wrap up by beating Liverpool, arsenal and Chelsea but can't see it happening.

Yup, so many what if moments - how the hell did we lose to Villa and West Ham at home, the stoppage time equaliser at Everton, conceding two goals in stoppage time at Wolves.

But we’ve had a few go our way too - Sheff Utd, Liverpool

just have to make sure we dont shit the bed as we did at FuPham and Newcastle

We're not going to win either European competition next season but at least Champions League will attract a bit more revenue for the club to waste and it might be fun to play in the new format

My preference by some margin is Europa rather then Champions League. We are not ready for it yet and it would have a negative impact on the league imo.

I want to get top 4.

But realistically we are nowhere near Champions League level at the moment.

I think scraping in to the top 4, while being an achievement, would cove up several issues (much like under Conte)
What is champ lge level. Don’t tell me Dortmund. They are not a top team but in the semis. Worst Bayern team in memory, still going.
In reality the level of top teams in Europe is nothing to be frightened of. If Arsenal had had some courage they would have got through. City are the outstanding team but nothing is certain with penalties .
Last season we got through the group stage despite being poor. Only just beat by Milan who got to the semis.
If we finish fourth we are in it and will give it a go. Bored with this we are not good enough for CL Stuff Finish 4th and go from there.

Agree 100%.

The notion that we're ill- prepared for the CL isn't quite right. History shows that the team tends to elevate their performance in higher-level competitions. After all, they made it to the CL final in 2019 using a midfield duo of Winks and Sissoko, didn't they?

On the other hand, in the Europa League, the club often appears complacent, leading to defeats against supposedly weaker opponents. It seems the team needs to face stronger competition to truly rise to the occasion.

I wouldn't be surprised if we only got 4 points in our remaining games. But in all likelihood that would be enough for fifth anyway.
I would. We average 1.88 PPG so far this season, I doubt we're suddenly going to drop to 0.66 for the remainder. Worth remembering that for the most part we've played OK against the "better" teams this season. Deserved draws away to City and Arsenal, win at home against Liverpool (okay not the best performance, and against 9 men but we got it done), played well in both games against Villa.

Only picking up 4 points between now and the end of the season would be an absolute disaster.

We should be picking up 6 v Burnley and Sheffield United. So that's more than 4. I think we'll beat one of Arsenal and City at least, so 3-4 points from those two (2 minimum). It's Liverpool and Chelsea away that worry me.

Chelsea away will be the first game to ever see one side get 10 penalties in one game. (it won't be us)

We would rightly be one of the favourites for the EL

If we play like we did at Newcastle we lose all 4.
