Yeah I'm totally mystified as to why people keep worrying about or mentioning United.

1. Every time they get within 3 points of us they fall away again.
2. They have only scored 40 odd goals in 31 games.
3. They can't hold a lead.
4. They have most of their CBs out.
5. They are not a proactive team and struggle against teams that counter them.
6. They are shit.

Must I go on?

Any worry should have ended when Chelsea beat them.
Exactly. If United were going to catch us they needed maximum points from their past 2 games

If United somehow finish above us this season then we have bigger problems than not finishing top 5, because it would mean us having totally and completely collapsed. The only team we are in competition with now is Villa.

It's wishful thinking. City don't drop many points at the business end of the season and we've taken what...three points at Anfield in the last decade? Best we can hope for is another Arsenal bottlejob/implosion as the pressure heats up but even that is looking less and less likely the further the season goes on.
Agree with this. While I think on our day we are capable of getting positive results against all of the current top three, I think it’s more likely they get the job done at the business end of the season.

Weirdly I think City and Liverpool are our best chance for points. Arsenal are just playing too well right now. People pinning their hopes on the NLD are setting themselves up for a fall imo.

We must win all the other games to get top four imo. I think fifth is safe now though.

The atmosphere will be incredible in the NLD.

We can make it extremely difficult for Arsenal.

Hard match to call.

Weirdly Im confident we might take points at Anfield.

They look more vulnerable these days and all the pressure is on them.

Weirdly I feel the same I think we could get a draw or win at Anfield but I think the NLD will be very tough, could be wrong but just a feeling I have this season.

Post is not chasing 4th, he is still chasing the title until its mathematically impossible
Exactly how any top manager should be thinking, none of this aiming for 'top4 trophy' rubbish.

You keep fighting for the top prize until its no longer possible then you move onto the next best target.

They're a good team the goons, but we should have won at their place earlier in the season.

Itll be an absolute cauldron that game.

I think the way Arsenal played at City is the way Arteta will set up at the Lane. He won't want to lose.

Losing the NLD is not an option at this stage of the season.

Interested to know whether United are still considered part of a "race for Champions League" by the media. If so we should be considered to be in a title race considering we have exactly the same ground to make up, and we can take points off the teams directly above us, something United can't do.

As usual we get to the back end of the season and reflect on dropped points -Wolves and West Ham (home & away) Brighton, Fulham & Everton away. Not saying we should be winning ALL those games but we took just 2 points from a possible 21.

What might have been!

Never mind the away games we dropped points in.

Had we beaten Chelsea, Villa and West Ham at home....like we should of, we'd be in the title race.

From last 5 season the avarage points for 4th place is 69,2. Would 3 wins and a draw in our last 7 games be enough? How many points do you think we need to manage 4th?

I think that might just do it if Villa loose to Arsenal.

It doesn't work like that - a ten point gap to a team chasing the title is far bigger than a ten point gap to a team chasing top four, which is also bigger than a ten point gap to survive relegation. Reason being - a title chasing team is far less likely to drop the points you need to make up the gap.

You might get the odd title chaser who completely implodes at the end of the season like Arsenal did last season, but that happens once in a blue moon (no pun intended). You're not going to have three teams simultaneously collapse whilst a team that can't keep clean sheets and hasn't won more than three in a row since October go on a miracle run of form during their toughest run of fixtures of the season. Whereas you might get a team with a history of Spursiness dropping points in a series of hard games that they usually drop points in whilst another big six team wins five games against teams in the bottom half.

Villa have won once in their last five league matches, and lost twice.

We have won three of our last five, and lost once.

We have good reason to be confident about beating them to fourth, especially with the extra game and superior goal difference.

Villa arguably have a slightly easier run in, but then again our last two matches could be against teams already relegated.

Woah some of you lot are hyper pessimistic.

United won't gain 12 points on us in 7 games

The West Ham draw in particular seems to have brought the fear and negativity out in a lot of people for some reason, even though it wasn't that bad a result.

Utd are dogshit, they've scored as many goals as Brentford and Luton so far, they aren't going to finish in front of us.
