I honestly think next season (top 4 or no top 4) we will be a major force that will kick off a spurs revolution.

I was so pleased to hear AVB saying he expects the club to invest big even without champions league football.

I cannot wait for the transfer window to open because i know avb will certainly be looking to add some real quality. Quality that we lacked desperately this season that could easily made us finish as high as 2nd.

Keeping hold of Bale (finally we have a real star player in our team) is obviously one of our main targets this season, my opinion is that he will stay and look forward to the new season.

Kaboul and Sandro will effectively be two HUGE new signings, a new improved danny rose will also be back who i think should take over from a dissapointing ekotto. A midfielder who can pull the strings is much needed, a decent winger (townsend in my opinion will be a big player for us if avb believes in him) and of course a quality striker.

We just need 2-3 new quality signings that will make the team so much stronger and also most importantly have real class in depth. A quick example of realistic signings i believe will make the team contending for big things:

Midfielders - Griezmann, Eriksen, Moutinho, Atsu, Belhanda, Ben Arfa, Isco, Gaitan, Salah.

Strikers - Benteke, Soldado, Bony, Burak Yilmaz, Leandro (sorry for mentioning him) H Son, Remy, Lukaku, Higuain, Lisandro Lopez, Aubameyang.

The spine of our team is looking quite simply amazing : Lloris-Vertonghen/Kaboul-Sandro/Dembele-New striker.

We still have 2 games left of the season and quite simply anything can happen. Finishing in the top four would be immense but it will no way be suicidal if we miss out. Avb really looks passionate towards the club and I think the players can see that too and are responding really well.
All those players i mentioned above are players who will no doubt see a team like spurs going in the right direction and would want to join and wake this sleeping giant up!

This is a thread i made for us fans to talk about the season 2013/14 and what we feel that needs to be done to ensure we are a major force.

Its time for a real sense of optimism and excitement to be shared around us fans.

Any of those bolded would be fucking insane and not completely pie in the sky for mine. Say Griezmann and Belhanda for a wide option and a CM addition. Any 2 of those strikers would leave feeling much more confident, especially if one of them was Soldado.

Outside of any changes, things are already looking positive for two reasons. First, we have a few key players returning from injury (and a few with nagging injuries that will be recovered). Regaining the likes of Kaboul and Sandro will be huge. Second, we will have some stability. The honeymoon will be over and it should be straight business and familiarity amongst our chairmen, management and players. Everyone should know what to expect from each other. There will be no evaluation period of players, no testing of new positions, no trials of tactics. This should all be pretty solidified by now. In comparison to some other clubs around us, we are going to hold an advantage in this regard. United will have a new manager, Chelsea will have a new manager, Liverpool will start with no Suarez, Everton will have a new manager (likely), and possibly even City will have a new manager. It will really be us and Arsenal going into next season as a returning top-side with some stability (if you can consider Wenger stable :ROFLMAO:), bar the introduction of any new players.

I have heard that he is being allowed to leave for 10m this summer. It seems like a very no-thought deal for us to go for. It has Levy deal written upon it: young, continuous statistical growth, low price. BOOM!

I'm really just curious to see what the hell AVB can do with a team a second year with players familiar with how things are run, a proper off season and a proper pre season. His guys or not.

Where is all this confidence that Levy will sanction spending this summer coming from? We have had to sell to buy in each of the last two summers, and have done very little to no deficit spending in the last 6 transfer windows. Not making Champions League, while giving Bale a massive pay hike, will mean we have very little financially flexibility to spend, unless Levy is willing to take a risk and borrow money to improve us in the transfer market (or Joe Lewis wants to bankroll the club). He hasn't done so when presented countless chances in past windows, and I am not hopeful he will do so this summer, even if Andres absolutely deserves the resources to improve us.

Another problem is that we don't have that many players we can offload and recoup large transfer funds for (perhaps Defoe, Dempsey, Adebayor, and BAE). Even then, it'll take Levy time to find the offer he likes before selling for maximum value. By that point, our targets will have been snatched by others in need of quality attacking options.

Frankly, I've lowered my expectations when it comes to Levy's transfer dealings. A great summer to me would be fighting off interest from Madrid and Bayern for Bale, while also warding off any advances from Barcelona for Lloris. Signing Remy as our new striker and only purchase above 5 million pounds is about what I expect.

This season we had half of our available defenders come in to the club and alot of the time playing of position and had never played with their teammates. We some better coaching I think we can turn this stat around
OptaJoe@OptaJoe
24 - As it stands, Tottenham have lost 24 points from winning positions this season, 2nd most behind Southampton. Slips.
With the reinforcements of Sandro, Dembele and Kaboul we should turn that around as well as the change to 433. This season arsenal only dropped 6 points from winning positions, if we match that next season we will be in the hunt for the title! We also would be 1 point behind Man Utd if we matched Arsenals total this season or 1 point ahead if we matched Utd's total of 4:cry:.
Strangely, we are also 3rd for gaining the most points from losing positions, which can build on!

It could be, we need to spend about 50 million though. A lot of that can be generated through players sales but we absolutely have to buy the right players this summer. If we do we can challenge next season especially with Fergie leaving United.

I think we need 2 new strikers, I'd like Soldado and Benteke. I think Eriksen makes a lot of sense for us, and then maybe someone like Clasie or if we qualify for CL, Moutinho.

Honestly we need to go big or go home, we don't need to be scrapping for 4th every year, we could easily take it to the next level with the right additions and some investment.

I'm hopeful that Townsend will be replacing Lennon in the starting XI.

I want both in the squad.

However, I'd like us to go out and buy a player in the elk of Mata, Hazard et al. Somebody who has some invention. Somebody who has quick feet and likes to beat a player. Townsend has more in his locker than Lennon in many respects - but to ask him to perform to that standard next season will be an ask.

Totally agree about Belhanda and was hoping we'd get him in Jan

Realistically, though, if we let him go to Turkey for only £9m when we badly needed a fast player who could cover both wings and chip in goals and we have Townsend returning from a very successful loan spell (I was advocating playing Towns him at LW and moving Bale to the middle) then I can only assume AVB doesn't rate him

unfortunately there aint no one(s) big coming in unless someone big goes out the door - that's how Levy rolls and even then some money will be ferreted away.
Status Quo will be retained no more no less

The consistency we have showed in the second half of the season has been very encouraging. We have lost 2 in 20 taking 40 points, win our last 2 and that will be 2 defeats in 22 with 46 points. That is almost title challenging form. Hopefully with the correct backing, I know I know, we can kick on next season.

Thought i'd have a look at signings made when AVB has been in charge of a team.

Obviously other factors come into which players are bought, but worth a look. Some successful signings in there with a clear focus on younger players.

Porto:
Souza, Rodriguez, Moutinho, Otamendi

Chelsea:
Courtois (very young highly rated GK), Romeu, Lukaku, Mata, Meireles, Cahill (and a few more youngsters)

Ah yes, forgot about that. Can't even remember any ITK whispers about him. M'vila seems the only real credible candidate, other than Sir Lewis of Holtby, we were looking at in Jan.

Yep. Still work to do but a very very good base to work from. Still need to get a little more substance but it's markedly improved already. Next step, some more style I hope.

I'd get excited for the season ahead because we are only two signings away from being champions league certainties and potential title challengers... Then I remember that our chairman's name is Daniel Levy and those two signings will probably be the midfielder maestro that is Shaun Derry and the enigmatic finisher hailed as Jamie Mackie from the relegated QPR.
