If true, seems like they're really dialed in with the plans to keep bringing in the most talented players into the academy.

Tottenham are taking big steps to sign ‘highly talented’ midfielder Boris Mamuzah Lum from Hertha Berlin.

That’s according to BILD, who say Tottenham have already had the 16-year-old in England as he has ‘already visited’ their facilities.

They explain that Lum is currently captaining Germany’s U17s at the Algarve Cup in Portugal, and, alongside Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen, many top clubs are keeping track of him.

Ajax, Barcelona and RB Salzburg have been showing an interest for a long time while ‘things are now getting very hot’ with Tottenham.

The ‘highly talented’ defensive midfielder has even travelled to London at Tottenham’s invitation at the end of December 2023 alongside his mother. He also attended the home game against Bournemouth, and it was here that he was being ‘persuaded’ to move to England.

Hertha reacted to this immediately and just a few days later, the 16-year-old was unexpectedly called up to the professional training camp in Murcia on January 7th, where coach Pal Dardai enthused about him publically.

They would be loathe to lose their greatest talent but the prospect of that happening in the summer is real and Hertha looked to protect themselves on that front, with the youngster currently tied to a deal that has a €5m release clause included within it.

Tottenham can afford this transfer fee and if the clause is activated, Hertha could do nothing to stop the youngster moving to the Premier League.

Activating it may not be necessary, though, as Hertha need money to help to boost their own coffers and would have to ‘seriously think’ about an offer for less than that.

It’s a situation to be worked out in the next few months but the belief is the highly rated youngster will be on his way to Tottenham at some point.

Yep, should have specified that was for domestic only. That's going to catch a few more players as well e.g. Phillips, Bergvall and Veliz will all be U21 domestically but will have to go into the "senior" squad as either homegrown (Phillips) or overseas (Bergvall, Veliz) in Europe. With Skipp as our only half-decent club-trained senior option our European squad next season could be a bit of a mess, frankly.
Maybe we'll look at some academy products from outside the club to ensure the squad remains viable.

A lot of work has gone into the academy but we are unlikely to see any real results for a good few years. That's why it's important in the short term that we try and attract top talents from elsewhere whilst then focusing on developing our own in the coming seasons. The fact of the matter is, we are currently a very attractive destination for up and coming talents due to the amount of work that's gone in and the effort we put into trying to sign these talents, the club (mainly Paratici who started the ball rolling) deserve HUGE credit!

I meant the likes of Edwards but I think that strategy is the best option at the moment, and that we should continue even when the academy is as productive as we would like. We are operating in such a more joined up way. It's really gratifying!

My lad couldn't stop them all unfortunately!

Proud of hisbperformance though

Mate, I felt fucking proud of your lad watching that, I can only imagine how you must be feeling! 😁
Great performance and kept the scoreline respectable for his team under a lot of pressure.
Did he get the MoM that the commentators said he should have?

Unsighted for the first. Not much he could have done for the second. Great performance from your boy from the highlights.

Off The Shelf with Simon Davies the academy manager worth a watch , tells us how involved Ange is on how the youngsters are doing on the path to the 1st team squad and how he needs to develop players to play Champions League football.

Maybe they did and I missed it but I don’t remember the club having Jamie Donley on when he was player of the month. Maybe Lankshear is a bit more media trained or comfortable in front of a camera and was happier to do it then Donley or maybe they see a future with him and want to show him off. Either way he came across well in that clip.
