If he can be fit for them in time, then I can't think of a single person that would not want this to happen. Legendary player gets to go back home and get fit and see out his career there. We get wages off of the bill. Excellento. Hope for all concerned that he is at the end of the tunnel.
Well I can think of lots of people who wouldn’t want it happen! He’s not fit. And won’t be until the back end of the season at best. Spurs are paying him his full weekly wage as per his contract I’m assuming? Why would anyone sign him now? Injured? And pay him? Weekly? He might not ever recover to play again. Why would he want us to cancel his contract now so he can play at the end of the season? ?

If we don't expect him to play again this season, I doubt we register him in the second half of the season, if we are needing to cut players from the squad.
I thought I read somewhere that Ange stated that he would not play for us again. On that basis he will not be named in our squad.

Not sure why Hajduk would want him now when he won't be available until next season

Think the latest reports said he might be back in April. I imagine we’d be paying his wages until he can train again, but this would save us a bit and free up a squad space.

If it’s a loan we’ll have maxed out our outgoing loan limit similar to last Jan. It’s capped at 7 over 21s which includes: Dier, Tanganga, Rodon, Spence, Reguilon, Ndombele and Perisic.

That means that Gil will definitely stay put but it also severely limits our flexibility in the market as we can’t accept loans with obligations (e.g. Hojbjerg) and we can’t throw any more loan players into deals as sweeteners (as we did with Spence).

As there’s no rush I hope this is left till deadline day to give us more room to manoeuvre. Would make more sense to release him or Dier as we did with Doherty previously.

I would guess we are doing this as a favor for Perisic.

We'll probably pick up a chunk of his wages, but will get a little money savings, and the player will be able to complete his rehab at home.

This was from the Doherty fiasco:

However, there is a FIFA ruling that meant a temporary exit wasn't possible, with clubs only permitted to send out a maximum of eight players on loan per season - a quota that Spurs have already filled. Harry Winks, Tanguy Ndombele, Bryan Gil, Joe Rodon, Sergio Reguilon, Giovani Lo Celso, Destiny Udogie and the aforementioned Spence have all left the north Londoners on various loan deals over the last seven months, meaning that Doherty would have to leave on a permanent basis in order to sign for Diego Simeone's side this month.

Don't think Tanganga would count. I think it's under 21s and club trained players are exempt

Its down to 7 this year and 6 next year. I thought club trained doesn't count as per https://www.skysports.com/football/...will-limit-clubs-to-six-loan-exits-per-season (Clubs will be limited to six players loaned out starting from 2024/25 season; club-trained players or players aged 21 or younger exempt from rules)

But the bit you posted said Winks counted towards it so now I'm not sure

Maybe as the loan limits are reduced, there are exceptions for HG players.

The sky sports site says domestic loans don't count yet (but are expected to come in 2025). Which would mean only ndombele, spence and dier would count plus potentially perisic. Last year all our loans were abroad

A Gold wrote about the loans earlier if anyones confused... https://www.football.london/tottenh...reason-behind-tottenhams-flurry-loan-28467528

Good luck Ivan it's a shame he got injured, was looking good before it happened.

Thanks for clearing that up. Sounds like we’ll be fine. The pertinent info from the article:

“That number dropped this season to seven and from next season (2024/25) onwards it will be six. Homegrown players and those under the age of 21 will remain exempt from the regulations. Spurs only have four international loans out currently in the shape of Spence, Tanguy Ndombele, Eric Dier and Troy Parrott, but the Republic of Ireland international technically falls within UEFA's U21 list as he was born after January 1, 2002 so would likely not count this season.”

“So for now with three international loans out of players over 21 and seven domestic loans out, Spurs are within the rules and have scope for further loan moves amid a frantic January of temporary transfers.”
