Ronaldo = Best player I've ever seen. Literally had it all. Power, pace, skill, tenacity, great attitude, top team player & lethal finisher.

I'd seen nothing like him before, and I've seen nothing like him since.

Like the Jonah Lomu of footballers.

It’s a pity that he wasn’t given more protection from the officials back in those days as he would have attained even more despite his already phenomenal achievements, if he had been fit enough to extend his playing career further.

Terrible result for us with OGS showing his limitations.

I honestly don’t believe that Poch will go to OT in the summer, despite all the crap that ex-united players are suggesting.

Poch has also subtly said that he would like to stay with us for a few more years and built a successful team here, winning trophies.

He just wants patience from the fans which I think we should give him, especially with all the obstacles he has faced this season yet still being able to cling on to the coattails of the pacesetters in the PL.

I'm not even sure he is the one doing the work. Based on him being a pretty shit manager before I'm guessing he's now getting help from SAF and his old staff, Mike Phelan for example.

How Sir Alex Ferguson is helping Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has won all six of his Man Utd fixtures and the role Sir Alex Ferguson has played behind the scenes has been vital.

Alex Ferguson is offering advice to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on his team selections at Manchester United.

The MEN can reveal Ferguson, who has visited United's Carrington training ground twice since Solskjaer was appointed on a caretaker basis last month, is 'very, very involved' within the new United set-up.

He also, not so subtly said...

“I will stick with Spurs until the end”..

Agree. Obviously they've been getting the results up until now so fair play to him, but his biggest contribution still seems to just be the fact that he's not a complete **** like Mourinho so everybody is in a better mood. It's like the ultimate new manager bounce. It'll only get you so far and long term I don't think he's the right man for the job. This whole "being a nice guy" trait is only going to be effective for so long before it's not a factor any more.

It's ridiculous that pundits are now switching to saying they should keep him on instead of getting Poch given everything that Poch has achieved over several years at Spurs whereas OGS has just cheered everyone up for a few weeks. Not that I'm complaining though obviously

Delicious Irony.

Courtesy The Shed End:

PSG with their squad look like the new Galacticos, an embarrassment of top talent, I look at their squad and think action will have to be taken to save the game as otherwise it will just be battle of the richest.

OGS looked a bit shell shocked when his team were 2-0 down, just genuinely didn't know what to do also he bought on Lukaku way too late IMO he should have been getting stripped when the 2nd goal went in.

This was always the case for me, getting players to play up to their potential is one thing and tbh any manager who came in after Mourinho who gave the players their freedom will always be popular but it's the times when you have these sort of matches where your managerial nous comes into question, where you have to change a game or disrupt the opposition just to get your team back in the game and for me OGS has a long way to go before he learns that.

I do hope they hire him for obvious reasons but I don't see them as a force their fans seem to think they'll be next season and beyond.

Quite obvious yesterday too that he had no clue on how to change the game. Sure, you can always blame the forced subs but even before them it wasn't like Utd had any control over the game.

As I said in the CL thread, he has an XI, maybe a couple more, who have totally bought his ideas and have raised their games for him. But as soon as a couple of them are missing they drop off, they can't play the football Solskjær wants to play. Mata, Sanchez, Fred, they just don't fit in and Solskjær hasn't found a way to make them work.

= Poor management. Being a buddy with some of the players is not being a top club manager. Before the season is over the wheels will have come off completely.

My father in law is a Chelsea fan and for the last 3 years all he’s done is moan about Man City buying their way to glory, all of which is said without the faintest hint of irony, it really is astonishing.

I disagree as I don't think there's any danger of the wheels coming off completely, as long as he has Pogba, Rashford et al on his side they will perform well enough to drag the rest with them. I think they'll finish 4th and go properly for the FA Cup. But there's obviously no way they'll keep the current tempo up, they won't go 8-1-0 in the league in the next 9.

Maybe he can only do so well with the egos he has been handed? Give him a window or two, with a full pre-season, season and judge him then. When Poch came to us we had several bad eggs. Let the manager get out who he wants out while bringing those in that he wants.

Mata certainly isn't an ego, I just think he doesn't fit the style they want to play at all. Sanchez is definitely an ego to get shot of, if anyone will take him, and also by all accounts a bit of a loner off the pitch which isn't great when you want to build a good team spirit.

But yeah, any manager who comes in to that club will need time to both add and let go of players.

Sanchez has made zero effort to learn English, and I was told he never fulfilled his obligations at Arsenal, such as do stuff in the community and meet the kids who'd been invited to the club grounds. He'd always be the first out after training.

Maybe ego wasn't the correct word. More that he literally just got put into the job and is currently only there for a few months. Can't really judge anyone based off that, as well as the results up to now. They may have beat us, but we had the better of the game and they lost to PSG. So the two real tests so far garnered mixed results.

From the little I've seen he likes to use pace in behind and on the counter (like against us). Lingard and Martial had to go off injured last night, Mata and Sanchez couldn't continue with the original game plan obviously but couldn't provide anything different against a solid PSG outfit. The only other thing I'd say about last night, is he should have brought on Lukaku earlier as Rashford looked on his own for much of the second half huffing and puffing.

I honestly think given it permanently and a few windows he could get them back up to where they should be. A favorite with the fans, and has Fergie to lean on to for advice, the players have already bought into him. Think he'd do well.

Am I the only one who thinks that when Fergie decided to retire he should have done this instead of getting Moyes in. I know hindsight is a wonderful thing but he knew how everything worked within the club, how to maintain standards and could have guided someone through it. As opposed to that they've had three coaches come in and rip everything up and try to impose their own way of working to no effect. Although I guess it may have been seen as him still being in charge.
