Got to say Hudson-Odoi looks a talent. About time England had several players coming through. Bright future for the national side IMO.

Did the ref make a call on the pitch or leave the penalty decision to VAR? Does he not need to make an initial call now? ie Does VAR now just decide rather than correct a mistake?

From what I am reading (not watching, following on Twitter and here), it seems he was ruled offside..I don't know how anything that happens after the whistle blows (unless it's something absurd) can be allowed. Everything should be dead at that point.

Refs should be taught to hold their whistle and err on the side of NOT making the call, then let VAR reverse it at that point.

We're 1 up, thats the only good thing about that half. They badly need a striker on the pitch and we may see giroud come on for willian. Need a early 2nd goal and that will kill them

Chelsea are stifling us and we don't really have an outball. Felt like most of the half was our back 4 + Winks endlessly knocking it about to no avail.

Not sure what the answer is really. Alli has been completely ineffective and reckon Lamela would be more useful. Either that or Alli has to drop deeper and help us link the midfield and attack.

been lucky Chelsea's been so poor in the final 3rd. Getting similar vibes to the wolves game. Hope Poch has learned his lessons.

Attempt to play the ball, and pen awarded.

They don't want the Red/Pen if a player goes for the ball. If it was outside the box, he probably would have gotten red.

What happened to 'last man' and 'clear goalscoring opportunity'?

I love Robbie Keane - one of my faves but Dembele will always be my fave

Ayup Poch, if your reading,
Ali needs chatting to at half time, sometimes he needs to stop all the footwork and pass it.
Sissoko needs to get closer to Alonso quicker.
We need to close down quicker.

Strange half. Chelsea squeezing the pitch and we’re finding it difficult to get anything going really. Son and Dele barely involved. Need our midfielders to get on the ball more.

At the same time Chelsea look a bit toothless without a proper striker on the pitch.

They're so high up the pitch as a unit it's unreal, pressing hard and making us cough up the ball.

But they're leaving mounds of space behind and we seem to be happy to let them dominate possession.

Our penalty comes from all that space in behind.

But we should press them now as they'll tire.

Didn’t play that well but 1 up. Hopefully Poch fires them up for second half. Let’s put this tie to bed.

Only positive for me is that we are forcing their front-4 to run quite a bit - Barkley looked knackered before half-time.

Yeah true. But it's a dangerous game we're playing I think, we don't really look like scoring like this, not enough of the ball in their half. If Chelsea equalise I think they'd be quite confident in pushing on. They're 1-0 down but they have to be happy that they've kept Dele, Eriksen and Son in particular very quiet.

As far as the pen goes. Glad our 1st goal v chelsea happened in that manner. Now the chelsea fans can spend the rest of the game moaning about VAR, while we get on with the job of sticking another away 2nd half.
