TEAM FORM
Spurs WLWWL --------- Leicester LDLLL

We should bounce back from our Champions League defeat to Sporting Lisbon when we play Leicester City at our ground on Saturday. We suffered a 2-0 loss in Portugal in midweek, while Leicester's men most recently went down 5-2 to Brighton & Hove Albion.

While we struggled to create many clear-cut opportunities against Sporting, our former youth player Marcus Edwards nearly scored an exhilarating solo goal before another pair of Sporting attackers got the job done in the closing minutes

Conte's reluctance to refresh our XI did not pay dividends, but we have been handed an ideal opportunity to recover against the Premier League's basement side, with the game going ahead despite concerns that the funeral would force a postponement.

A 2-1 win over Fulham two weekends ago saw us move onto 14 points from our first six games of the new league season, and we could be top of the table if Manchester City fail to overcome Wolverhampton Wanderers at lunchtime. Current leaders Arsenal will hope to respond against Brentford on Sunday. We welcome Leicester to North London having strung together a seven-game winning streak at home in all competitions, but creative concerns continue to bedevil us, as our side are far from well-rested compared to Rodgers's under-performing crop.

Some Leicester fans would have welcomed the chance to see their side test their mettle against 17th-placed Aston Villa last weekend, while others would have accepted the postponement of that clash with open arms given the way their side have performed so far.

In what turned out to be Potter’s final match in charge of Brighton & Hove Albion before his quickfire Chelsea appointment, the Seagulls were the predators and the Foxes were the prey in a 5-2 South Coast romping, which extended Leicester's losing run to five matches.

Rodgers and co can no longer turn to the transfer market to solve their lengthy list of problems - although there was a reluctance to splash the cash in the summer anyway - and the visitors remain rock bottom of the standings with a measly one point from six games.

One would not knock Leicester for going down to Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, but performances in all areas of the pitch have been alarming nonetheless, and only Bournemouth (18) have shipped more goals than the Foxes (16) so far.

We did the double over Leicester by an aggregate scoreline of 6-3 in the 2021-22 Premier League season and are now out to record our fourth successive win in this fixture, and our confidence tank could do with a top-up before facing Arsenal after the international break.

Team News

Conte should once again be working with just the one absentee in Lucas Moura, who is confirmed to be missing until after the international break with his tendon problem.

Our coach once again elected to leave Deki on the bench as he remains reluctant to drop Son from the first XI, and the Sweden international may have to accept a substitute role again, with Conte seemingly keen to boost Son's confidence before the international break.

A clash with 20th-placed Leicester could provide Son with the ideal opportunity to end his goal drought, but Conte could still make changes in the engine room as Sessegnon and Bissouma push for starts.

As for Leicester, Rodgers is also blessed with a near-fully fit squad and should only be working without long-term absentees Pereira and bertrand for the trip to play us , but Dennis Praet will need to shake off a foot problem.

Jamie Vardy was dropped to the bench against Brighton, and despite his penchant for scoring against the Big Six clubs, Daka and Ileanacho are primed to hold their places after each netting at the Amex.

Daniel Amartey's return to fitness could very well see Rodgers match our system with a three-man backline, which we struggled to break down against Sporting in midweek, but it remains to be seen if Calgar Soyuncu will force his way back in Rodgers's plans after a late-minute move to Turkey fell through.
