These quotes were taken from a Chelsea Fan site during the height of the Gio Dos Santos negotiations. Enjoy!

Man city look favourites to buy Giovani for just 7.8 million so I was thinking why don't chelsea go for him. he's young, talented and probalbly better than SWP and malouda. anyone else think we should buy him

One half of North London, mate.

Ian McGarry just said on Paper Talk that we are definitely signing Dos Santos, without question. Its going to be in The Sun tomorrow.

Personally I think it will be a good signing. He'll get more playing time here than at Barca and will be able to develop. I've watched him this season and he looks a talent. He's only 19 or so and will improve, and IMO won't be a first team regular to begin with if he does come. He'll be developed like Ronaldo was at United.

You heard it here first.

Noted, thanks.

Dos Santos could be going to Spurs according to the Daily Mail:

"Tottenham are in pole position to sign Barcelona's Giovani dos Santos after discussing a £7million deal. The 19-year-old midfielder, son of former Brazil international Zizinho, has been interesting Manchester City and Chelsea but his preference is to join Tottenham manager Juande Ramos..."

Ah our friends at the Mail - normally right on the ball...

What the hell is going on with Tottenham. Why does everyone suddenly want to join them? Do they really love Ramos that much? Hm!

Well he's growing on us.

I'll be a bit disappointed if Spurs sign him. I think in one or two years he'll be quality. Ultimately I think James is right and he's going there as he'll get more games. Champions league football obviously doesn't bother him then.

Spurs could make a serious push for 4th next year if they add to him and Modric.

Watch this space..

You have to be kidding me... Spurs???
First Modric, and now this fella (2 players I'd have really like to see at the bridge next season)
Ramos must be extremely skilled in the art of 'transfer market seduction'

Don't forget Danny Boy and Comolli..

be a mistake on our part if we let this kid slip through our fingers, he is there ready for the taking and we are just gona let spurs take him... big mistake, he looks a class act and will only improve.

Yup.

Wtf is going on. I will be seriously pissed if Dos Santos goes to Tottenham, Modric was one I was willing to get by, but not signing dos santos will start me wondering whether we are a serious club or wether we a just a money laundering project.

Quote of the day!

To be honest I think Dos Santos is overrated. He is very good no doubt, but why are Barca letting him go? We should be after a much better player such as Aguero.

hehe

I would be gutted to lose him to spurs of all teams, because the thought of him playing for spurs against us and causing us lots of problems is possible. But on the flip side of this, Sinclair's chances would have being limited if Gio joined. Di Santo's position is different so I dont see how Gio's signing would have affected him.

Get over it mate.

Giovani Dos Santos: I Want To Play For Chelsea

Apparantly he wants to play for us and not Spurs.

Damn.

Of course he would. Why on Earth would he even consider leaving Barca for Spurs when there are clubs like Inter Milan and Chelsea chasing him? I don't know where the media in this country get these silly Spurs rumours from. Like Casillas, Etoo, Dos Santos, etc would even consider taking that step down in their career and play for Spurs. Spurs must have a lot of fans working in the media.

That would be telling - ner ner

So apparently we've hijacked the Spurs deal and he's on his way to us...

We shall see.

Uh huh.

Would be nice to beat Spurs to someone at the last minute. Its clear from that link that Barca don't necesarily want to sell him, but he wants to leave. Not only that, but he actually wants to play for us.

Hope we get him.

Disappointed now?

The media have surely made up any link this player's had to Spurs, as well as the rest of their ludicrous rumours. There's no way a club of their size could be consistently linked to big stars unless they've got some connections in the media.

I don't think if we get him we'll have "hijacked" Spurs' deal, as I don't think there would ever have been one, even if we weren't interested.

Probably put my foot in my mouth here though - he'll sign for Spurs tomorrow.

Did you wash your feet?

Word is out, from the bookies, Giovani dos Santos is signing for us.

You heard it here first.

Whatever..

or chelsea he would be 15m, for everyone else 8mil is enough, and for 8m he's a great signing as very young and good prospect. think we are missing out by letting him join the ramos revolution.

See the light!

good bit of business for spurs if they get him for 8m, no doubt he is one of the hottest prospects currently around, be disappointed if we dont even attempt to get sign him, especially at that price.

Yeh. Cheap tho innit.

It's not so much that WE didn't get him, it's also that Spurs DID. If he turns out to be **** hot next season, I'm gonna be pissed.

We won't.

nd if he turns out to be an over-rated piece of nonsense, we'd be patting ourselves on the back for not falling for that.

That's life. And that's football.

There's plenty of fish in the sea, and perhaps ignorance is a part of the reasons, but I'm not bothered much by Dos Santos not coming to us. Many here wondered if he was good enough until a single hat-trick swept the forum.

Now itf it was Bojan Kirkic we were talking about, then I'd be mucho interested. Dos Santos? Meh.

There are plenty of good youngsters around. So long as we keep our eye out and take a gamble of a few 18-24 year olds this summer, I'm happy.

Tell Arnesen to get some work done.

Don't worry, they still have Robinson in goal!

Watch this space

If he goes to spurs then its because we didn't want him. Simple.

Whatever.

I'm sure if dos santos was really that good, barca wouldn't be looking to get rid of him. to be honest, he has the looks and physic of a ten year old girl and I don't think he could hack the premiership, and watching him play last season he has nothing on messi or bojan. then again I could be wrong and he could be awesome and we'll probably try and buy him from the hotspurts a season later for twice as much.

True blue!!

I'm sad that be weren't interested but he is a player who ONLY uses his left-foot and that would annoy us most of the most (worse than Robben).

And his head..

clearly he isn't good enough

:(

agreed.

:(

har har

Looks like he's now at Spurs for £4.7m.

Too young and cheap for us.

Chavski summed up in one sentence

CLose this then!

OK bye.

The only disappointing thing about the signing is that it means we definitely won't go for Ronaldinho. I know some people think he's past it, but he ain't. And if Man City genuinely are speaking with him, then we could too.

Personally i dont want any superstar at Spurs who will eat up our wages. Plus, where would he play? He cant play on the wing because he doesn't defend. He goes down too easily and i think he has let his ego get in the way. I think he'll end up at Fenerbache myself and link up with Roberto Carlos.

get rid of most of our previous squad, most of whom, apart from the obvious candidates, are pretty capable premier league squad members, then what? bring in a multitude of newcomers, some of whom might not immediately adapt. i think the way forward is to retain peqple like jenas, hudd, lennon, o hara, get rid of the ones like staltieri, lyp etc. bring in better players like dos santos modric etc because we desperately need those upgrades. but it is imperative we retain a premiership savvy core, if only as back ups.

Exactly right. People seem to forget the fact that we played so well against Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea (at home) in the league, when Ramos took over. Aswell as the cup wins against Arsenal and Chelsea. Its the consistancy thats the problem and winning against the lesser teams. We need quality and not quantity to add to the players we have. Theres no point replacing good players for good players.

As you say, get rid of the fringe players. We can then get players who are better then our first team players, to take us up another level.

erm..... am i the only one who has noticed that we haven't even signed him yet? only an agreement can be made. Obviously it's likely he will come, but chelsea or anyone can still make the same deal.

i wont sleep easy til he holds up the shirt with '2 saints' written on the back.

Yeah, definitely a point but he's said himself that he's going to be playing for us so I'm _fairly_ confident he's ours. Odd that they announced it before agreeing terms with the player though!

Not sure if this has been said before (as this is page 66 i assume it has been) but his name isnt translated as 2 Saints-it is a portuguese name so the dos means 'to the' instead of two.

But he's Mexican and so adopted the Spanish derivation of Dos Santos, Two saints.

So Johny Two Saints it is!

Haha, fair enough-we'll just quietly forget about his portugeuse dad and say he's decided that it'll be a better translation for 35000 spurs fans!

With the prem rules will he have to have dos Santos on the back of his shirt? Or Dos Santos, Santos or Gio?

I'm very excited by this signing. I think he will be put in the starting eleven for a lot of our games, and he will provide movement, creativity and an end product that we dont get enough from our midfield. Both Keane and Berbs like to get on the ball, so we need players who want to get beyond them, and I think Gio will do that.

He uses the number "2" in the address of his website as a substitution for "Dos" so he's already adopted the right format therefore my avatar is correct!
