Reminds me very much of Defoe.
If these reports are true, then would be a very good addition, and at twenty seven in his prime?
Jamie Vardy was similar no?I'm curious why he's taken to 27 to have a breakthrough
I don't know anything about him. Hope that helps.I'm curious why he's taken to 27 to have a breakthrough
I think this is the wrong way to look at it.If he's available at that price then the risk is minimal.
That'll do, get him in.Kane-esque celebration.
He's not much more of a risk than Toney, who is reportedly going to move in January for silly money. I'd much prefer that we sign someone like Victor Osimhen, but the speculation about Guirassy and Jonathan David seems more realistic and attainable.I think this is the wrong way to look at it.
If we buy the wrong player, they still take up a squad place.
Dier and Davies cost less than £10m combined. We'd be much better off if we found buyers for them and could improve the squad.
I have no idea about this player, so I’m not judging him. He's not much more of a risk than Toney, who is reportedly going to move in January for silly money. A significant factor in our squad repeatedly becoming bloated with deadwood is that we do have to take risks by signing players who are less proven than most of our rivals' signings.I have no idea about this player, so I’m not judging him.
I was disagreeing with the idea that because it’s low fee, it’s worth the risk.
We’ve had years of having a full squad, half filled with low quality players who didn’t cost much.
They might not be a huge financial loss but they do affect our squad quality. Plus we can’t put it right until we sell.
Not so sure about that. Expensive players come with high wages, so when they flop they can still be hard to move on.A significant factor in our squad repeatedly becoming bloated with deadwood is that we do have to take risks by signing players who are less proven than most of our rivals' signings.
Bigger clubs also take risks, but by signing ludicrously expensive players who are definitely good but might not end up being world-class. If they "flop", they are still desirable for slightly lesser teams, so can be moved on fairly easily for a loss. Our flops are more likely to not be good enough as a squad player at the top level, rather than simply failing to be one of the first names on our team sheet.
Both of your examples are of players who massively flopped (albeit due to injuries for Lo Celso, which in itself makes it hard to sell him), rather than simply didn't live up to our hopes, and we were only able to sign them because we weren't competing with bigger clubs for their signatures (i.e. they were less proven). Not so sure about that. Look at how difficult selling Ndombele is. Lo Celso is considerably better but we’ve still found it hard to find a buyer.
Selling down is often very difficult.
