Our best chance of a trophy this season and it's thrown away predominantly because of bad team selection.

First real misstep from Ange.

I'm editing this as people seem to be taking it out of context with the usual level of doom mongering. It's not the balanced opinions of people I have an issue with, it's the OTT comments people throwing their toys out of the pram seriously questioning Ange after just FOUR GAMES that I have an issue with and who the entitled comments were aimed at.

How is he supposed to get to the bottom of his players unless he plays them all in competitive matches ?
I think most agree that some changes were required yesterday, but perhaps 4-6 rather than 9. We probably would’ve won last night if we started Vicario, Romero and Maddison. Why he put Scarlett on rather than Maddison at half time at 1-0 down I’ll never understand. Never mind though. Hopefully he’ll take the FA cup more seriously.

Yep.

It's disappointing. Hopefully he's learnt more about his players today.

Concerns over playing Hojbjerg and skipp together. They cannot receive the ball under pressure like sarr, biss and madders.

I was glad for richarlison, however the jury is still out. Its not his ability, its his mentality. He loses his head when things don't go for him.

Experienced enough to have known better
than to make so many changes.
Hopefully lesson learned.
Hard graft all round required after the brief Honeymoon.
Rose tinted specs dumped.
Ange is not God after all.

I'm really disappointed with his answer saying "how am I going to find out about my players?" We had a whole preseason for that. Granted you rotate in the cups, but nine changes was an awful decision. After Burnley we don't play again for two weeks.

He is experienced enough to know that Skipp/PEH is a bad combo or that Dane at halftime isn't the best sub or that it is a bad idea to play without at least one of our captains/vice-captains.

Our best opportunity of a cup is now gone. He has done so much right so far, but last night was a huge blow for Ange in my opinion.

No one is expecting him to fix every problem in his first two months but we might only play 40 games this year so to throw this one away is piss poor

But we didn’t. We had two preseason games cancelled last minute.

I also do not believe for a second that if he’d changed a lineup that won two in a row in the league everyone would accept it.

We didn’t throw it away. We lost on penalties to a good PL side. We didn’t play well in the first half at all, but it’s not like they were there for the taking like many teams we’ve lost to in recent years without a fight. I understand people are disappointed but I think people are getting over the top about this.

He has a few days to decide if Scarlett stays with the squad or goes on loan again, so I think he wanted to see him competitavely.

FFS... you have to go back 10 years to find someone other than a doped team who won this trophy. I'm over it already. Ange will have learned a lot about the rest of this squad, and why we are in rebuild mode. None of those 9 players will likely feature much again in the league.

It’s his fourth competitive game as our manager for christ sake, he’s not going to fix everything he’s inherited from the previous years dross overnight and he’s going to make a mistake every now and then, he said as much recently.

This is a project, we finished 8th last season, have some perspective you whiny entitled little bitches, honestly fuck right off with that shit.
I don’t think anyone is hating on Ange, I am certainly not but if you don’t think that line up was questionable again what is really a Derby match I think is slightly silly. I can see his argument of *having to see the whole squad* but he was either naive in his selection or he didn’t really care about the Cup in the first place. Perhaps he’s going balls out for the FA Cup or for top 4, only he will know.

Training ground/behind closed doors friendless/under 23's games...Competitive games, especially knock out cup games should be given priority. Will we look back in 15 years and go, we'll we took 3 points off burnley at the weekend and proved GLC wasn't up to it?...or is it another possible cup run opportunity missed

NEWSFLASH: you can be disappointed in Ange’s team selection last night AND still be fully behind him moving forward. Why do opinions have to be so far on either side of the spectrum all the time.

1. He made too many changes.
2. He probably knows this now
3. A slightly more stable / stronger team we beat Fulham last night
4. We are out of the competition we probably had highest chance of winning
5. That’s shit
6. Richie scored 🐦
7. We are threadbare beyond maybe 13/14.
8. We have c.30 players
9. Levy grr
10. We’ll be much better Saturday and I fully back us to beat Burnley and everyone will calm down

Like another poster said.. if he wanted to test the players out, test them out against Burnley. Why? because should we lose they'll be 34 more games to play.
