Yeah that's incredibly harsh. He had a couple of moments in the first half where he was shaky, but I think the entire team looked nervous barring Maddison and Bissouma. Could have done better for their second goal but more than made up for it from then onwards. It was easily a 7/10 performance. If you regard that as poor fair enough, but in our first match in a new system I'd consider it a solid game.He was at fault for their 2nd goal, was beaten by Henry on other occasions also and was often sloppy in possession. I’m a fan of his and think he suits AP’s system but I thought today was a below par performance from him.
The low cross I forgot tbh but was a split second push out. Not great but all keepers will make reaction stops like that from time to time. The lob was very good and he saved it. The 'penalty incident' I'll ignore since the player had skied it and was trying his best to get clattered. Was clearly never a penYou missed him pushing a low cross straight into play 2nd half? How about when he almost got lobbed a la Seaman? And then almost gave a penalty away next action? Distribution was poor more than twice too.
I'm not crucifying the lad, but I just don't like the look of him thus far. Let's hope I'm wrong and you lot find these posts in 6 months time and laugh at me.
I find it crazy that professionals can’t use both feet well.
Agree. I was thinking Harry would have hit that with has left. Harry would have got a shot away there.
Will be interesting to see how this all unfolds, what qualities will we see from Richy, who will step up
The two big chances he was at fault for had nothing to do with being an inverted player or not having cover. It was basic, poor defending from Royal and not the fault of anyone else.He got beaten twice by a good player - also he play's inverted so is out of position.
When he was given better cover behind that avenue to goal was completely shut down and he didn't lose another contest for the game.
tough crowd.
Incredible isn't it?
Second most touches behind Biss, a goal, and an imperious second half defensive display = "poor"
spurs fans eh
This. I don’t get the Richy hate. The first half we had no width and fed into their structure. The second half we had width and two exhausted wingers. On top of this, Richy was double and triple teamed all match. I think everyone’s concerns for all players (I thought Skipp was somewhat trash) need to be applied with bags of salt given every variable at play. And those slating Richy. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt this game, Brentford were so compact and left hardly any space for Richy to work with. I think even Harry would have struggled this game to create anything. Anyway very solid point, and we move on.
Son's only recently come back from surgery, so he's still trying toget fit. Early days, first game of the season 'n all that. It is weird just how much Kulu has fallen away. When we bought him to the end of that season he was immense. I've no doubt that unlike under Conte, all our squad will improve over time.Maddison, Udogie, Emerson, Bissouma were excellent
Sanchez very good.
The front three were abysmal and a real worry.
Dier has posted COYS!Considering we had 3 debuts in defence and then lost Romero in the first half., I thought it was a decent performance. Keeper not convincing just yet.
Brentford is a hard place to go. In the last two seasons they have battered Arsenal and Man Utd in the first home game. They just defend and then counter attack with pace and balls over the full backs.
No Dier in the squad. Apparently taken anything Spurs related off his IG. Could he be off.
In what way?Going to be a long season.z
Harry would likely have finished that last chance richy had blocked. He would have either hit it first time or shifted and shot after the defender was set.And those slating Richy. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt this game, Brentford were so compact and left hardly any space for Richy to work with. I think even Harry would have struggled this game to create anything.
