Absolutely infuriating our fan base sometimes.
Kulu has been pretty decent but is getting pelters for cutting inside
son has been pathetic, also cutting inside and ignoring overlapping runs from others, mis placing very simple passes but seemingly gets a bye from fans.
I would much rather have Kulu on this form

This is basically just an attack vs defence training session rather than a game. Don't think you can read a huge amount into it. We've not created many clear cut chances, but law of averages one of those Maddison, Sarr, Son shots goes in most games I reckon.
Don't think we've seen as much of Ange's style as he'll like. Think we settled back into some bad habits from last season at times without as much interplay.
Bissouma, Maddison, Sarr and Udogie all looking v.decent. Son rusty and Kane not really involved.

As much as the focus is rightly on defensive reinforcements, I do think there's also issues in the wide forward areas to resolve.
Solomon looks an able deputy on the left but I still have question marks over Son out there and might well be shifted centrally post Kane whereas out on the right we do need Kulusevski to either step up in this system or find a rotation alternative.
Sarr however looks a real talent indeed and if Lo Ceslo is also figuring to stay, this might now mitigate the need to target a Gallgher and opt to use those funds on at least 2 CB's and a wide forward, preferably on the right hand side.

All really good points. I think Vicario has been fine, he's hardly had anything to do, Kulu as an 8 I don't hate that idea but Sarr has been good there as was Lo Celso in the last game so seemingly some decent options there. Porro RW would be interesting for sure as Kulu all left foot hasn't worked too well, there have been a lot of early crosses on and he's kept cutting back.

I think you can definitely read something into the goals conceded in the two games though.

Another good shout this could work nicely.
I think if/when Kane goes we really need to sign another top class pacey RW who can create and score and then Son and Richy can maybe cover up top.

Yea he would in theory suit this style and system of quick give and goes and low crosses very nicely but would be best as a LW so really RW needs strengthening as we have about 5 LW options and only really 1 RW in Kulu with Solomon able to cover there.

hottest of takes - Bentancur does not walk back into the XI when fit!He'll be part of a rotation at 6 and 8, so he will play, but he won't be an automatic ahead of Bissouma at 6, nor Sarr/Lo Celso at the 8 (or Maddison at the other 8, who I assume will play virtually every match).
I think Sarr and Lo Celso can be that good in this system, nothing against Bentancur.

Well the buoys kept at it and got the goal. Lion City Sailors were battling against the tide and weighed anchor but didn't have enough wind in their sails to see the half through. I can see this brand of football making waves in the PL next season, but we are playing a slightly worse version of Hull. The players are all on board with Ange's style and hopefully we can adjust the compass in the second half. Will be interesting to see whether we clear the decks and play a different crew for the second 45 minutes.
