I still have a nasty feeling that as soon as we agree a price with Bayern. City, United or even Liverpool will step in and match it. Kane may still end up in the Premier League next season.
Even if they did they know they would have to pay a premium, just because we accept one offer doesn’t mean we will from everyone

It feels like he’s close to going. For the best of everyone, but mostly us, he should go quickly and we should reinvest quickly.

There’s a risk this hangs over us like a cloud. We haven’t had good news in a while and the atmosphere on here (which is likely a pretty good proxy for the broader shareholder base) is becoming (understandably) quite negative

You’re a legend H. Good luck. But it’s time to draw a line under this and move on

I think there’s a very reasonable chance of this.

I think it would also be reasonable to expect a premium for selling to a domestic rival (ie any premiership team)

Has it been a waste? We were electric for a few years which was (and remains in my memory) a joy. Then we had a series of "winners" who proved themselves anything but, yet the main criticism appears to be they didn't get *enough* money from us (but that's a different argument). But that wasn't a waste of Kane any more than it was a waste of Dele, Son, Jan, Danny, Toby, Hugo etc. You win as a collective, you lose as a collective. It wouldn't have been any more worthwhile had we beaten Chelsea in 2015 or City in 2021; Man City moaning about a lack of recognition for their treble shows that insecurity will still linger.

We didn't win with him. It happens. We didn't win things with Luka Modric and Gareth Bale, but we did with Steffen Freund and Didier Zokora. Liverpool didn't win the league with Gerrard; Clough's final act as a manager was relegating Forest; Wigan won the FA Cup and have flirted with non-existence since. The story rarely goes the way you'd like. But I wouldn't call the feeling I had watching his beauty vs Arsenal in 2016 or us dismantling Chelsea at Stamford Bridge or seeing him have City on strings a waste. Seeing our lad captain the best England team in decades wasn't a waste. Watching his journey has been a maddening experience that has genuinely rocked how I experience football. A punchline and a gangly novelty to the most technically gifted forward alive. An unknown quantity that seemed to score through surprise to an almost inevitable figure. I still find it a little strange that this metronomic magician is the same kid that I saw spit on his own shirt and kick the ball almost out of the stadium whilst yelling **** because he stumbled offside.

The best I've seen for us - better than Modric who's won the Ballon d'Or and Bale who won four CL's. I wish it had gone different, but I wish a lot of things in life had gone different. Can't do anything about it and, for all it could've gone better, if you think about his start with us, it's really a miracle it happened at all. Of all the possibilities for Harry Kane back in 2013, who saw him becoming our top scorer, England top scorer, and it's still viewed as a disappointment?

It'll be sad for a while and then it'll hurt less because we'll have new heroes. We're in a much better position with Ange to do this than we were in the past few years IMO. His time here was many things, but it definitely wasn't a waste.

He's a fantastic player, one of the best in the world. Can't believe he has been at Spurs! It does feel like a gut punch that the club hasn't won anything over the last two cycles of great squads. However, this might be the opportunity and catalyst for the renewal we all desperately need. We're all jaded as fans from the many false dawns post 2019. Must be worse as a player and nobody can blame him if he does want to go somewhere else now.

I personally (and pessimistically) see him going there, sort of underwhelming, and Chelsea/United sign him in twelve months time. But hey, he's either ours or he's not.

What a sodding waste it's been. Squandering a world class club legend throughout his prime. Clubs don't often get these opportunities.
Yeah well... he got a chance at our club as well... he's taken it and worked his way up... but if he had been at another top club i England he might not even be where he is now... so other clubs waste talents too 😏

The second that happens, Levy will laugh in their face and offer them a 30 million premium. Kane goes cheap abroad but not domestically.

In an odd way, I'd prefer City. They're nailed on to win loads again, it makes Arsenal even less likely to win the League. And Bayern get what they deserve for acting as they have. Nothing.

I hope he doesn’t, they still have to pay what he’s worth imo
I mean, Kane, for me, is priceless and worth more than 100 million, but we don't have much leverage to demand a fair price for our star forward; hence me using the word cheap. :)

I think this will be a good thing for the new manager.

Instead of the intense pressure of needing to win trophies immediately to potentially get Harry to extend we now would be in a situation where people are hopefully patient with Ange after losing one of the best players in the World.

Arsenal are good example when leadership is patient with a new manager and gives him well over a year to build his culture and playing style.

I would imagine the deal is he can only be sold abroad, and they couldn't afford him anyway

No way on earth Bayern sell him, whatever contract he signs, he will have to see out. Especially when they pay €100m+

We’ll see I suppose

But we cannot let in leave for free. No way. This whole ‘we got him for nothing, so it’s OK’ just doesn’t ring true.

A difference of 100m in the budget is absolutely massive, and not worth keeping him for one year

Anyone who thinks success is more likely without Kane is quite frankly deluded.
Anyone who thinks they can predict it with that level of accuracy is deluded.

I’d like to keep him, but I don’t think it’s out of the question that, if we spend the money well, that we’ll be a stronger team.

I think its probably more likely that we’ll be weaker, as I’m not convinced we’ll spend it well - our track record suggests we won’t - but it’s hardly a sure thing
