I wonder if Enrique is waiting to hear if we want him.

I wish we knew what the club was upto. The uncertainty and inaction is causing so much of this hostility.

I think he’s a good candidate footballing wise and is a lm amazing character. But I think he needs a strong DoF beside him to make it work because it would require a drastic change and don’t trust him and Levy alone to sort it out.

Also, worry about his longevity. I think even if things are going well could see him decide to go in 2/3 years. He doesn’t stick around at clubs for long.
2/3 years would be an improvement for us.

He’s never been off the table for us if you ask me, he’s been constantly mentioned since the start and I really wouldn’t be surprised if he gets it.
I'm starting to think that but I find it weird he isn't already here is so considering the unrest and upset amongst the fanbase and the fact he isn't already employed.

It would be such an easy and obvious win to announce him

We’re the only vacancy he could be looking at realistically. Not going to Palace is he!

If he was top choice, he would have signed 3 weeks ago though. So who fucking knows who else we’re talking to.

Slot was first choice wasn’t he, then Nagelsmann cropped up, so there wasnt really a chance until now. Been saying it since the Slot news dropped that he will be in with a chance especially if paratici is still around as he’s always liked him.

I agree on your first paragraph to an extent. We were linked to Jordi Cruyff as a DOF so maybe that was to work with Enrique. It would make sense especially with how well he did dealing with a difficult financial situation at Barcelona recently. We’re nowhere as bad as they are financially but our squad does need reshaping in the same way there’s did when he went there.

Agree.

At least this means he is still an option. I know some on here aren’t keen on Enrique but I think he’s an interesting candidate compared to many on our increasingly diminishing shortlist.

He’s a better option than a lot of the trendier ones that’s for sure. There’s a reason Napoli and PSG are linked with him. Not my first choice but I wouldn’t be upset. Him coming in might help get rid of some of the cloggers in the squad as they won’t suit him. He might just not be good to come in now but also help sort the squad out for the next bloke too.

You're always quite calm about things. I think it’s the best way to be about this search!

Behind the scenes he wanted more and more control of recruitment, like he did at Liverpool and he completely sucks at it. Several highly rated staff ended up leaving and their squadbuilding went to shit the longer he was there.

Add to that he lost the plot tactically and lost the players. He doesn't have the personality needed to unite us either.

Honestly he'd be a disaster just from the fact he wants control of recruitment and is awful at it, let alone his other baggage.

It's the reason clubs he is with collapse.
Completely agree

Good enough for the Italian champions but we're above him? Got it
That’s not really the point though is it. Different managers suit different situations and clubs. Surely people have learnt that after the last 4 years?

Enrique might be a very good coach, but is he the person to build a club from the mess we are currently in? We’d need a lot of changes for his football to work here. There’s so much work to do with the squad.

There is so much work to do with the squad regardless of the manager we appoint, IMO.

Its such a mess and I have been back and forth over who I would like to manage us, and with what we *reportedly* have left, its Ange or Potter. Potter was always going to get fucked over at Chelsea, he isn't a bad manager and most would have taken him at Tottenham before he went to Chelsea. I dont know alot about Ange tbh but a mate says he could be the answer and a fair few people seem to think he could do the job.
Whichever way it goes we look so fucking amateur and we are a joke.

I honestly don’t feel Potter has the required charisma needed to galvanise this team.
And who knows where his head is at after what happened at Chelsea.

Aside from that, I don’t think anyone can deny the optics wouldn’t be great ether.
Potter rocked up at Chelsea with a new image, messy hair, dapper clothing and beard.

His next stage of evolution to shake off his 'too nice' approach is a Mohican and a nose piercing.

Well if we appoint Enrique it will be because Paratici is still in Levy’s ear as a ‘consultant’

Enrique was his #1 choice to replace Conte.

At least Luis Enrique is much more attacking and progressive as a manager than Nuno or any other name that Paratici put forward

There are questions around both but I would say that personally think both would benefit from coming in and focusing on one match a week.

Expectations are so low right now that if we *somehow* can make progress just clearing names off the books, show some promise of attacking play, and compete for a European spot - then I think most would deem that a successful season to build off of and hopefully start getting the supporters united again

There is. But I think our squad is as far from his tika-taka as we could possibly get. He’s not managed in club football since 2017 either. He could be the dogs danglies, but I think it’s a big gamble.

Well…yes?

Napoli are far better than we are. They do not require a complete gutting and rebuild nor do they require a project manager. Luis Enrique is arguably perfect for them in that case.

He couldn’t be further away from what we actually need.
