No idea how Slot could have signed that recontract that soon. Wasn't him very keen to come? I mean I know Levy can be shit, but was it to such an extent that it pissed Slot so much he literally couldn't wait to sign? I know the media could also be a few days slow so things might have already worked out all before Wednesday. But still? If Slot is not using us as leverage to ask for a higher pay, he sure looks like now.

Seriously what the fuck Slot. And we silly fucking celebrate the league title with Feyenoord.
That is a good point to be fair. I hadn’t thought of that. I guess though maybe the offer had been on the table for a while, and he maybe wanted to see what else was on offer. Apparently we were not enough of a pull.

This manager hunt echoes my youth, spending nights out in clubs on the pull. Early on in the evening you’re eyeing up all the stunners.
One by one they disappear and you’re left going home at 2am choosing between the borderline psychotic bird who wants to make her cage fighter ex-boyfriend jealous, or the big lass with the limp.

You were eyeing that limpy lass all night

Yeah... I mean obvious gulf in quality but they didn't get a single win in their UCL group which included Shaktar Donetsk. They had the third least points in all of the UCL group stages beating only Victoria Plzen & Rangers. Even Maccabi Haifa got at least 1 win.

De Zerbi’s Shakhtar couldn’t even beat Sheriff the year previous. None of these are reasons to be afraid. Spurs are going to have to take a gamble because of the way they’ve run things up til now.

I worry about the next few seasons regardless who we bring in as manager. Without CL or any European football we can only bring in average players or potential. We don't exactly have a great record in finding good players with out spending big. We don't seem to have the ability to find them on the cheap as say Brighton have. This has obviously effected the thinking of several managers we have supposed to have looked at. Then there's the Levy untrustworthy situation that most managers know about and not interested in working for him. The Mourinho statement yesterday about his dislike for him hasn't helped either. Levy is not going to want to spend big with out CL and with the emergence of the Brighton's, Necastle and possibly Villa added to the top 5 or 6 already there then as I said in the beginning I worry about the next few seasons. The only comfort is that every season we have high hopes and fail but next season we wont have so maybe we can just enjoy the football.

In whose opinion Trix? I don’t need you to answer this but every comment on here ultimately has an agenda attached. By the very nature of this whole thing then you are subject to a bias of some type. Unless of course you are at the very, very top table and then even then there is a direction.

This suggests I am attacking your comments which I can assure you I’m not. I am just suggesting that Hopefully there may be a plan (!🫣) that we may not all be party to - even your contacts? For the sake of the club I hope so.

I did mention earlier that I have a pretty reasonable contact that told me this has been all slammed shut. What is happening is being kept very quiet.
Your contact thinks it's slammed shut but the reality is Levy is sitting behind his locked office door rocking back and forth in the fetal position asking Danny rose to Google manager names from across Europe.

I do find it hard to believe that Slot was pissed off by Levy trying to negotiate rather than just pay an inflated price. He will have known that every pound given to Feyenoord was once less pound in his transfer kitty.

It's not always the idea of negotiation - its the manner in which we seem to negotiate.

Levy is probably a very good negotiator in a one-off situation, when he plays hardball with a low initial offer.

The problem becomes when you need an on-going relationship, or if you deal in small circles, or if you are negotiating for something you really want - then you run the risk of alienating your negotiating partner, to the point they don't want to do business with you - just not worth the aggravation.

It also sends a negative message to players/managers that suggests you don't value them very highly when you make low ball offers for their services. People like to feel wanted.

We can only live in the hope that the info you’ve got is correct……because we have nothing else to cling to….
To be clear, that’s the point, I have no info, as does the person who contacted me. None.

But this all sounds like Putin is going to send down Nuclear bombs on us all. Spurs is my life really but this is not the end of the World and we will all be here next year.

Prof confirming what we basically already know. God, I hate Levy:

Hypothetically, if AS had said "If you want me to leave a place where I'm beloved and have CL football, I need you to show your commitment to me by making a viable compensation offer to Feyenoord before I meet with them about an improved contract. ", and (again, hypothetically) if we had tried a 'take our low-ball offer or we walk away' tactic (a tactic which we have used more than once before), AS may have gained the impression that working for DL would be more aggravating and stressful than he was comfortable with. Hypothetically.

You have to admit it's a spot of sore luck that this is one of the very few times a player or manager holds out for extra compensation for his employers that he is happy to leave.

I mean, what are the odds that this was the moment that football changed from people discussing jobs to requiring overt displays of proxy-affection. It's just really, really bad luck.

Genuinely sounds like Levy's having some kind of breakdown. He's lost touch with reality completely.
Lol it’s this kind of nonsensical hyperbole that makes the “Levy out“ argument so ridiculous to a lot of us. Criticise him for his decisions, sure. But to suggest he’s lost his mind is ludicrous.

He really doesn't need to. He could have the easiest job of a chairman of a fantastic club. Just give up the control to the right persons and re-jig the board members with better qualified ones for goodness sake damn it.

I am with you.

But, sadly, Levy is not wrong here...

The problem for him is that the way things are going, its going to be a while before we "win a few games"

Damn shame we arent at home Sunday, atmosphere woudl be 10 times worse than it was last week. One shit show after another

I guess it needs to be explained that we need anyone who has info to contact us before sharing it or even saying they've a source. That's how we have always rolled.

So please either leave it out of all this or send me and @Rob a PM so we can try and verify. Cheers

I think it would be a disastrous appointment. When was the last time a manager from the Scottish league came over and was successful in the top half of the Prem? Gerrard was terrible and dominated with Rangers.
One of the reasons that he’s not got many results in CL is because they’ve tried to play the Pep-style football they play in Scotland but just against opponents who have better players than them or at least as good.

Now, he could have set up in a low block and tried to nick some results but he was getting his players to be brave and get on the front foot even if they’re outmatched.

Isn’t this what we’re crying out for after years of Jose, Nuno, and Conte football, sitting deep, letting the opponents have the ball? It might not work, but I want a manager who’ll at least try and get us dominating the football again.

Worse comes to the worse, we’re back here again at Xmas looking for another manager.
