Probably not but I don't think he is the disaster in waiting that a lot of our fans seem to think. I think he is at a crossroads in his own career where he had the taste of being at a big club very early and if he ever wants to get back to that level again a job like ours could be the best shot he has.
He’s a a massive prick who players just stop playing for after they have a year of him. That much is consistent.

I think this is a little bit off the mark. We don't historically pay big on managers. We've done it on 2 occasions and that was on 2 proven winners in Jose and Conte. It depends purely on the profile of manager. I'm not surprised we don't pay big on a more risky choice from Holland. I do agree though that if we really were convinced then money wouldn't be the main issue. I just think it won't be spent on someone who hasnt managed a top club. I could see us spend the money on Nagelsmann but not Slot for example.
Ramos, Jose and Conte all cost big.

Edit: Poch's 2nd contract was £8.5m a year. We also regularly fire managers, which also costs money.

But if people want to believe we're not getting Slot on an assumption, then knock yourselves out.

If the reason we are not getting Slot is really because of a buy-out clause then this stinks that we are going to end up with one of Rogers/Potter/Mason.

My pick from the start has been Ange - he would just be perfect for our current predicament. High octane, attacking 4-3-3 football and his teams tend to transform into this very quickly. He is just a genuinely great guy as well and would bring about an air of positivity and feel-good factor we have been missing for years.

"I want our supporters dreaming of big games and big wins and winning things. Thats the role of us as a football club. I'm sure they get enough of their bubble burst in their normal lives on a daily basis it doesnt need me to bring them down and tell them dont be too excited tomorrow." This sort of guy I want in charge of Spurs after a string of managers who constantly wanted to burst any fan optimism at the first opportunity.

Solid manager..but why would anyone want to come here and work with that toxic man..... Brendan Rodgers or Potter it shall be

Unless we have a United protest against our board instead of one man & his dog we will remain a laughing stock & we’re falling so rapidly we can be considered a small club soon.

No point trying to justify it mate. I've been very vocal all along that Slot wanted to come but already a few comments on here laughing at what I've said because apparently now he was never interested. I'll say it one last time for everyone, SLOT WAS VERY KEEN ON JOINING US!

It's pretty obvious Slot wanting to come but the deal fell over because Levy didn't want to pay the compensation. I'm not sure how it couldn't be any clearer from what we've been told and what we know Levy is like. It is all too obvious what has happened.

Obviously very disappointing news this am. I was well on the Slot train.
However it is occasions like this that make me really worried that the wee man makes a knee jerk snap decision now following the media reaction and that from all the fans this morning.
Spot on. The club did everything right in its process to picking Slot. It’s a blow but we have to be just as methodical in going for the next option.

It’s going to be Rodgers isn’t it.

He’s free, knows the league and will want the job.
I will say this

I'm really disappointed it won't be Poch or Nagelsmann. I ended up sold on Slot and was fairly excited and I'd enjoy seeing Ange try although I'd think he was a massive back up option.

But if that idiot Rodgers gets within 50 feet on the job I won't give him time, won't back him and will be of the opinion it's an appointment that makes the Nuno one sensible.

Please don't make out that incredible song was made by those bunch of chavs, it's Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, thank you very much.
I didn't. Make no mistake, my comedic brain made the call that the reference to Blazin' Squad (because, lol, really) was more amusing than people with actual musical talent, especially given our current managerial search plight. We're definitely more Blazin' Squad than we are BTNH.

At this point I really think we need to step back, recalibrate and focus on getting a DoF. I don't think rushing head long into yet another name is right thing to do. I know its been a long while but we lost out on our top two targets and yet again look rudderless. It should have been the priority from the start, we should never have put ourselves in a position of matching the DoF to the manager.

I was willing to give the benefit of the doubt up until now. But we’re now scrabbling around for third and fourth choices.

The club simply had to get it right this time. If Slot is first choice then just pay the money.

Can’t see anything expect disaster from here on out. Gonna be looking for a new boss in November again probably.

I agree. It's now got to the point where I'm starting not to even be bothered by it. The club give zero fucks about the fans. They don't deserve us.

It really feels at this point that the board have two options - go all in for Nagelsmann or Poch, or, face backlash like they’ve never seen from our absurdly tame and tolerant fans

That assumes the DOF “search” is not every bit as shambolic as the manager “search”.

I have no faith that we could get the DOF deal done in time for him to do a proper manager search.

It's the single biggest hire in the entire club. It dictates everything else.

How we can act like we're shopping around for a good deal, is beyond me. I have to hope that the speculation of it falling down around compensation isn't true.

Because if we're not willing to spend £10-£20m to secure the RIGHT manager, then what are we hoping to achieve? Someone who's cheap in place of someone who's the best option for the success of the club?

It just doesn't make sense to me that this is what has made it fall apart. We paid Jose and Conte plenty of money.
