Anyone think Levy is waiting to see if we get in europe as the deciding factor on who the manager will be. For eg with no europe keeping mason in charge and Mason having to deal with keeping current squad and loanees returning and make Roden the CB we need lol
Seriously speaking… no. I do trust he will hire the right manager. Will he provide that right manager with the right backing. That would be a hard left, no.

It would be very odd to appoint the manager before the DOF surely. Wouldn't shock me but it would show Levy has not taken a step back at all from the footballing decisions like he keeps promising.
I wouldnt be overly concerned. Especially if the new manager is aware of the pool of DoFs that are being considered. And hopefully the likes of Munn is also heavily involved with the decision making process.

So Nagelsmann? Still an option as we've had no news that he's definitely NOT interested?

I'm pretty sure he is still the main option. He has probably, and correctly, asked questions/sought reassurances around our structure/DoF which can't be fully answered until that post is filled. My hunch is we are working on both appointments in tandem and the manager will be announced shortly after the DoF. Should it be someone like Spors as DoF then that may point to Nagelsmann.

Now, Italian journalist Paolo Bargiggia, appearing as a guest on 7 Gold’s Il Processo (via Area Napoli and Sport Witness), claims the 64-year-old has an "important proposal" from Spurs.

When asked about Spalletti's future, Bargiggia explained:

“Why did the manager release certain statements [Napoli exercising one year extension], proving to be rather cold on the hypothesis of a renewal? The problem is that the Tuscan had an important proposal from Tottenham. Spalletti earns €2.7m a season, elsewhere they can guarantee him a very high salary.

“Then came two other potential proposals, not yet so concrete. One is PSG, even if Mourinho is more likely to go there. The second is sensational: a return to Rome. I repeat, however, there is nothing official.”

What do people think about Spaletti? He’s the one linked manager I don’t have any opinion on, clearly done amazingly this year but have no sense of how he’d fit ok at spurs and what he’d bring. It’s a complete unknown for me, anyone have any insight?

No way would he leave Napoli. He’s found the perfect club for his football and I’m not sure coming over to the PL would suit him anyway.

Can't help reading this with a wry smile....

Not really got much of an opinion on Spalletti for us. But if we are to look at him then we should consider his past seasons more than the current, don't believe that just because he win the Serie A this season there's suddenly any magic about Spalletti. Their win will have come because they hit jackpot in their player recruitment and have kept them fit for most of the season.

His results have been great since back to 2005, my point being that he's not a better manager today than he was a year or two ago. So if we consider him I want it to be because of what he brings to the table, not because he won the league this year as that's a result of three world class players coming together at an already solid club.

This Spaletti talk will just be his agent trying to get him more money with Napoli.
100% this. I like him as a manager but he would be a bad fit. He's very much a journeyman and is certainly on the eccentric/passionate side. He's had many issues with his personality not fitting with team's/board in the past. I'm also very sceptical if he would ever adjust to managing in the PL. For me he is absolutely the perfect fit for Napoli and I really hope he stays there. But I don't believe for one moment we would be seriously interested in him.

Calm down everyone. We’ve not had any credible or recent news that we are going for Glasner.
To be fair there have been links previously and currently, hopefully he’s not who we’ll go for but there is some reason for the panic in this case as it’s now confirmed he’ll part ways with EF.

Also I love how these articles claim certain managers are attacking or take the game to opponents etc whilst clearly having not watched that team or manager much.

Good style of play but he’s 64 and a don’t think he’s the project type of manager we need right now at all.

Hopefully just his agent trying to get him a pay rise on a new contract after they just won the title.
