Why does Conte have this fascination with us playing (1st half )like Ivan Drago fighting Apollo Creed before his trainer yells at him to actually fight?

Main positive for me from that game was Bissouma.

Finally looked confident and like the Bissouma we thought we'd signed. Excellent close control and actually taking risks on the ball and playing with some cojones, rather than just making simple Harry Winks backwards passes all game.

We weren't nearly as bad as some have been saying in the first half, compared to first half performances in recent games away to Man Utd, Bournemouth and Marseille, and Sporting Lisbon at home we were better than that and showed more intent and weren't nearly as passive as we were in those games. I think the howler from Dier that gifted them the second goal is clouding people's judgment of how bad we really were overall in the first 45 mins.
Admittedly we weren't great but not half as bad as people are saying.

Stirring and brave second half performance where we gave it everything and just came up short. I'm really encouraged by having Kulu back and it we can bag a win in the last game at home to Leeds before the World Cup break that would be great.

We're in the CL knock out stages and still very much right in the mix for top 4 and have players to come back from injury so much to be optimistic about going into the second half of the season. That and a decent transfer window in January.

We deserved what we got. You can't complete for one half only and expect to win games. They had injuries too and hadn't won an away game all season. We didn't have the right shape, tactics, or mindset. I'm optimistic that we have a manager with a good track record, but right we're going backwards rather than forward and he needs to start showing some progress.
Completely disagree.

Conte can't send a team to go all out every week.

Firstly, the schedule is heavy. The amount of big games we have had simply cant allow it. Arsenal can because they have had more rest and their Europa group was a cakewalk.

Secondly, we have key injuries in key areas. All of Romero, Kulusevski and Richarlison have been playing with injuries so you have to manage them. Lo and behold they all got injuries anyway.

Thirdly, poor players. Conte has already stated this. Some cannot play high intensity football for long periods. It takes so much focus, technique and aggression. Therefore, you can't push them. Why do you think Sanchez or Dier or Davies make a mistake every 4 or 5 games that leads to a crucial goal?

Cause they can't reach that level over sustained period. At some point they lose the focus or lose their heads a bit.

Until Conte gets that, we will have lapses and struggle to play like that for longer periods

Lots of positives but disappointing to not cement the comeback. Maybe we should boo at the start of the game as that seems to fire them up ?

The negativity is getting boring! We are quite clearly a work in progress. Top 4 this season while building towards next season would be a win for me.
Let’s be honest, everyone is feeling the pressure of arsenal being top of the league.
If they were 5th, we’d be calmer about our position

let’s remember this:
6points behind city (without playing them yet ?)
Topped the group in CL

go into the World Cup like that- you have to be satisfied.

Much better 2nd half, the Kulu effect is real, Doherty far better going forward than Emerson, Bissouma looking class, poor ref decisions didnt help and unlucky at times, ultimately poor defending cost us though. Just win next weekend and go into the world cup in top 4 then we'll be set nicely for the rest of the season. Need players back from injury and Kulu far more involved the rest of the season.

Agree, but could do with another Jan window like last year as well.

Got to agree with this. Moved with the ball, was destructive in breaking up play, passed it crisply and looked mobile. He has such a high ceiling.

How is Conte still picking Royal over Doherty? Its genuinely mindblowing, everyone except Conte can see what a terrible wing back he is. Hate to say it but Sessengon on the other side isn't much better. We basically need a whole new backline and keeper over the next 2 windows. We've been moaning about Dier, Sanchez, Davies, Lloris etc for years, they are all capable of having good games but there's always some ridiculous mistake just around the corner.
I honestly think he picks Emerson because he doesn't trust the back 3 enough so essentially has another more defensive wing back. Jose sort of did similar with Davies at left back and 2 defensive midfielders.

He was brilliant. Bentancur was amazing again also. That pairing has serious potential.

Leeds on the weekend is a must win. Absolute must. Be good to get a win in the cup midweek and get handed a nice home draw in the next round

Great second half performance. and i emphasize great. that was what this team is capable of. It's a crying shame that we can't put 90 minutes together. I love Conte and he is the man for the job but i really want to know what the hell happens between halves.

What is particularly galling is the state of the game thread and how the supporter's culture is changing so much, so fast. (at least that it is the appearance from an outsider coming into SC just a few years back.) It's a downer coming in here these days as posters who must not played the game at any level demand things from players they never could do at a speed they can't even fathom. Worst of all is some of the commentary on the tactics at both the individual player and team level. They don't understand that no player is perfect and slag them off (not the play) at the drop of a hat. Dier's header was terrible. His decision to pass back was worse because of the risk. The team paid the price for his schoolboy mistake. Comment on the skill, comment on the decision but the hyperbole that follows it is ridiculous. The guy has saved our ass and bleeds for the club yet we won't suffer the slightest pin prick from him.

There is no doubting that we could upgrade at that position. Zero doubt. Bit until that day comes, I"m going to f***ing cheer my ass off for anyone wearing the badge. Creating a toxic culture is so counter productive its stupid. I'm more embarassed by some of my fellow Spurs "fans" than i am by Spurs performance. It's one thing to not have enough technical skill, physical capabilities or mental understanding of the game. That means "it's time to upgrade" But until that happens, if you give your all, I'm behind you. That's what i always thought this club and its fans were about. just ask Rafael V. doubt he would think we're a special club if we only sing when we're winning.

Rant over. For now.

So fucking angry. At the ref. At the unfair result. At Diers stupid stupid error n an other wise good game.

and the fucking gobshite 20 something "fans" openly kicking the team rather than supporting. Absolute ****s and embarrassing cringeworthy "support".

time for the club to make noise about refereeing and time wasting- after the disgrace that was Newcastle (record low amount of time played in a game at 53 minutes)
