Honestly not concerned by the result, had it not been for an absolute howler from Lloris and an absolute brainfart from our worst player, it would have been a very different scoreline. Hopefully either Doherty or Spence will seize the opportunity and we'll look back at this as the end of Emerson.
Mate honestly they were the better team by quite a distance.

Results will catch up with performances is exactly the kind of thing people have been gagging to say.
This may be true for some people.

But we're outperforming both our XG for (scoring more per game than expected) and our XG against (conceding fewer per game than expected).

That suggests that there may well be some regression to the mean.

Hard to take, especially when we fucked ourselves over, but the better team won. The next week will be unbearable but it’s one game. This lot will do what they always do and fall away as the season goes on. Fuck Arsenal.

I think this is Conte's last season. He is a great manager but somehow his tactics do not resonate with the players he has. On another note, Emerson Royal, when is he leaving? I don't rate this boy at all, offers nothing to the team.

The thing is, on that first half, we’re clearly tactically mandated to sit back, give low % chances up only and try to nick it on the break. The problem with that is when one of the pot shots goes in, you’re severely on the back foot.

Our heads went down at 2-1, the red card was just the icing on the cake.

This game screamed out for the 352 we finished Leicester with due to the personnel available and the way Arsenal play. Now we’re watching us swamp the midfield and play 1 up top chasing a 3-1 deficit, and. I’m unsure that the red card has just changed that inevitability at all

The worst part is how meek we’ve looked all game. You expect to lose this game but we’ve been uniformly not up for it. Even Royal’s sending off was shit and half arsed
3-5-2. Precisely. With Bissouma perhaps. Two in midfield v three in every game is potentially suicidal

It deserves to be a red just for the stupidity alone IMO.

And let's be honest, if the roles were reversed then we would be screaming for a red.
It was definitely stupid but that's never a red. Taylor destroyed this match.

Conte playing in goal and RB?
He picked the RB despite there being several better options. He also picked the formation which was just so silly given how Arsenal play and the personnel available

Arsenal were battering us before Lloris’s clanger and the red card, you play these fine line defensive tactics you can’t moan when they go wrong

This was a 352 game all day.

Disappointed that we simply gave up at 3-1. Subbing in 5 defensive players and taking off 2 forwards and Perisic.

What the fuck! Absolutely ludicrous statement. Arteta is utter shite, see the end of last season. They have been lucky today we’ve given them two goals. If we’d turned up like we did at the end of the season we’d have smashed them.
He just isn’t. People need to start accepting that Arsenal are genuine title contenders. They had an excellent window, a better one than ours, where they addressed all of their weakest points and now we’re seeing how good they are. If we were playing the football arsenal play, we’d be loving it.

We didn’t address our biggest issues over the summer and still play horrid, surrender football under a guy who has absolutely no intention of changing things.

Cant say that Im surprised, we are such a pussies in Big away games. I never expect us to get anything in them.

Playing with royal is like playing with 10 men, the guy is just a waste of space. Time to shove him out in january.

People are getting carried away. The first half went relatively well. We made a mistake early second half by a player who has been excellent for a long time (Lloris has saved us many times). That mistake didn’t have to be terminal. But the red card soon after - a decision that was very harsh - compounded the problem. It means the narrative will be about those two errors but there’s a lot more to the game and our season than that. It’s shit but it’s football.

All games go "relatively well" until that team starts losing mate.
