He’s so poor on the ball though. His clearances are always straight to the opposition. I do agree when people say we probably won’t find a better under study and I credit him for that, but his passing is woeful and he’s still prone to liability moments and he had a moment today.

We need better ball playing CBS in our defence. Romero adds that. Sanchez Dier and Davies are all poor at it.

I do think one of the things holding us back is our CBs. They need to offer more on the ball in a Conte system.
imagine having Toby and Verts at their peak now...

Just read that we haven’t conceded a goal in 7.5hrs with Sanchez on the pitch
Exactly, so many people so so wrong, saying Sanchez Is a big drop off from Romero
Yes Romero is the first choice, but Sanchez is a capable deputy
I believe that under Conte we have a better ppg with Sanchez than Romero

Still can't read the flight of a ball. If he's running toward goal with an opposition player for a dropping ball he aint winning it. Loses those 50/50s almost everytine, and did it again today.
Played ok on the whole but he's still an accident waiting to happen.
We can get better than him.
All his frailties are still there imo.
Who would that be, especially happy to be a rotational squad player?

The issue with Sanchez is when he’s put under pressure. He panics and can’t trust his technique on the ball. He also, as others have said, just cannot read the flight of the ball.

He did ok today but he really wasn’t tested. Wolves were toothless up front. And that’s the issue, people forget about what he’s like under pressure due to games like this one.

Of course there were positives scattered within his performance but all the old Davinson hallmarks were there too. I’ve never thought he was good enough to do well for a top 4 team and I still think we should be looking at options to upgrade him.
He did perfectly okay against Liverpool and Arsenal if I'm not mistaken at the tail end of last season.... Liverpool have a decent strike force.... he did fine in that game.

In a sheer defensive perspective we don’t have much drop off. However for a progression, ball retention and attacking perspective we do.

Can’t deny the facts. We aren’t conceding. However our build up play from the back is naaahhhttt good with Sanchez and Emerson playing

Everyone crying that Romero is injured, but time and time again Davinson has proved invaluable. Not nearly as calm or technical, and I do admit the build up is a lot more basic and shaky without Cuti, but I’ll happily take the clean sheets. The Guedes moment head scratching, but solid as a rock the rest of the game. The only thing he’s done since the new year is turn up and produce solid performances, so I was never worried about the individual player.
Rinse and repeat. Solid again and again. I will say again I think our attack suffers without Romero (and he is still first choice obvs), but I’ll choose clean sheets every day of the week.

If he was good on the ball he’d be world class cause there’s no doubt he’s a very very good defender

Passing still needs some finessing, but much improved, however little comes in way of attack from him and royal.
