A solid player with passing range, straight line speed is there, not so much on the turn. He’s actually very similar to Dier, who has improved in the back 3. Ginter would be fine cover/competition. Not exciting, but experienced and reliable who will be a positive in the build up. And for free, I don’t see a downside except adding a non-HG player to the team and the fact I see Rodon as fine cover as well in the CCB position.
I think we might have to be creative in that area as I can't see either Rodon or Sanchez not wanting first team football week in week out. To be honest I don't think Conte would trust either player on a rotational basis playing in the CL (if we make it) or the PL.

If we went 352 that would almost certainly mean dropping Kulusevski for Tielemans which would be crazy. I think Conte will stick with 2 in CM who are real workhorses an I'd be very happy with Laimer as an option. Swap Laimer in for Winks and we'd have Bentancur, Hojbjerg, Laimer, Skipp and Sarr which isn't too shabby.
I’d tend to agree with the profile of CM target. A top athlete with a decent technical base. Laimer as you say is the best of the best in his pressing and running. Top athlete too. A more expensive option I want is Matheus Nunes. Has the athleticism and has the workrate, but shows some real mastery of the ball like Tielemans. The athleticism only helps him defensively.

However, no one is playing 55-60 games next season. Not Kulusevski, nor a potential CM signing. It’s why I just want quality, and Tielemans’ profile fits a different team shape with and without the ball, which might be useful in Conte’s eyes. I’m not looking at any signing and saying “nah can’t buy him because then it means dropping x player”. That’s the point of the squad and depth and it’s been beaten to death so I won’t say anything more other than this: Tielemans has big strengths (as does Deki, Laimer, etc.), he has weaknesses (like Deki, Laimer, etc.), but overall this is a quality option to add to our squad in my opinion. I don’t want Kulusevski or anyone else to be assured of a starting spot. It helps players maintain peak levels as they know they have to earn their spots. At the very least, if Conte sees differently and sees the squad in terms of best eleven then the rest of the squad, it allows for rest and different tactical options.

I'd sooner bring in another forward to cover the front 3 than a midfielder that really needs to be in a CM3. I think Jack Harrison and Dwight McNeal make plenty of sense since they'd give us wingback options too. Eriksen on a Bosman looks mighty tempting too for a bit of depth.

Two more fantastic CM profiles. Both top athletes and hard workers. Fofana provides more goal threat, better ball striking, more class on the ball, whereas Doucoure is a defensive animal and a real smooth mover. I’ve absolutely loved watching Lens play these couple of seasons. Their recruitment is amazing, and Franck Haise has them challenging for Europe. Jonathan Clauss would be near the top of my RWB wishlist (although he is aging), and I’ve mentioned Facundo Medina in the past. A great LCB option.

Seko fofana is worth looking at. Absolute beast in midfield and rated best player in France by Get France Football Now last reason ahead of mbappe and the rest

weird we went for Sarr instead of this guy then if he’s been good for a while and we were scouting France?

Would Eriksen even want to come back?

He was very insistent about leaving and experiencing something new.

Think it’s unlikely he signs tbh.

One transfer option IMO we should look at & try earnestly is Paul Pogba.

Hear me out :

I hate the player he is/was in United. For me, at club level he was disillusioned. Now coming out on free transfer - he can pick where he wants to go. Most probably will go to PSG or Madrid. If we are ok to sanction his salary - which could be on par with likes of Kane.

Paratici did the deal to get Pogba on free transfer at Juventus from United back in 2011. Manager who developed Pogba then as 19yr old was Conte. So, if there is a manager who could keep Pogba in check & get the best out of him, it is Conte.

We need to add more quality in CM. We may be able to get a cheaper option elsewhere. But if we could convince Pogba and can find a way to get him, we would be adding world class quality in midfield. Under Conte, he could potentially bring out his French national team form.
Yep him and NDombele is the dream midfield.

Honestly the only player I would really consider from Utd right now would be Lingard, and even then I don't really know where he would fit in this team. Can he play RWB? ?
This is a wish list. Have we all forgotten this. Pogba and Lingard!!!!

I see you've had a few disagrees but I agree it's an interesting option. I think a bit like Bentancur and Deki who weren't appreciated by Juve fans (and I assume not by fans of other Italian clubs), he could really benefit from a change of scene. He has demonstrated at times that he is an exceptional talent - at Juve, for France and (less often) for Man Utd. I think any player would struggle to excel at Man Utd since Fergie left.

There are question marks over whether he would do the hard yards for Conte in a CM2 as by his own admission he prefers forward-thinking roles. He has often left Man Utd exposed by not tracking back. I think in a midfield 3 in the more advanced role he could do well as he has for France. However given that isnt our preferred formation I think I would pick up Eriksen (if possible) over Pogba for an option off the bench if we want to switch to 5-3-2.

Could he provide competition/rotation to Son/Deki as one of the 2 #10s? Maybe but I think there are better options despite him being "free".

This I agree with. Personally I’d look to add more depth and competition to the preferred system, especially with Conte’s incredible tactical preparation and depth he goes through. The automations he’s drilled in already fit the 343. Now normally, I’d want more flexibility, but with the detailed approach of this manager and the numerous ways his teams can adapt within a system, I’d definitely prioritize additions that fit a MF 2 and a front 3. Laimer, Nunes, Fofana and Doucoure from Lena all some we’ve been linked with who fit a MF 2. A more creative no 10/inside forward like Eriksen or a more traditional pacy winger. Those 2 positions plus a LCB and RWB (maybe LWB and maybe traditional no 9 too) and I’d be happy.

I don’t really believe that.
In no way is he like Ndombele. He’s been a top performer in this league since he signed for them. Like many players he has strengths and weaknesses and needs the correct blend of midfielders around him to perform best.
he needs a whole team to carry him. Like Ali. Not for me.

Assuming this is genuine, and not some sort of wind up I’ve missed on a previous page.

Pogba signing for Spurs? You’ve got more chance of being kicked by a snake.
