The Neville interview was a "Utd please come and buy him" but I can't see him going anywhere but City if he goes. I think City for us is the best option. They will still be strong for a few seasons to come. Selling to Utd would be making them stronger and would be detrimental to us.

I used to like Neville, a good pundit but is now a pain in the arse. Thinks he's the voice of the people and keeps banging on about the ESL. "Have these teams been punished yet?" Give it a rest.
I didn't read it that way at all. They spent more time talking about England, with H pulling him up on putting him on corners.

Fucking hell. Fully drank the Mourinho coolade. It's all down to leadership and not lack of tactics. Should've just played Joe Hart in midfield.

Bit of toxic masculinity to boot.
So, you must be of the opinion that it is a matter of better coaching and this same set of players would have been better this season? I’m not completely bought in on this notion that every bad thing that happened this season was down to one person. As for the cool aid comment... do we really know what happens behind the scenes? It is very clear to see on the pitch... no matter who is the coach in the last two years... that this team lacks leadership and cohesion and discipline.

Im not 100% confident right now, that even if (pick your favorite) coach came in, and had to work with the same set of players, they would‘nt run into some of the same systemic issues we have seen for a long time now. It could be possible that there really is a group of players in the squad who did believe in the coaching but couldn’t interpret what he wanted out on the pitch. Harry’s point here has some merit. But it isn’t the Jose love aspect that irks me... it’s that he doesn’t seem to take on any accountability. And the fact is, he has had games as well this season where he did not show up. Did not lead by example. That’s what actually annoys me about this quote. He’s throwing his teammates under the bus.

We have actually spent quite a wedge in the last two summer windows. GLC and TN were significant investments for a start. While Mourinho was clearly backed last summer. We should have been splurging on a quality centre back, but at the time, most of us were delighted with both the 19/20 summer window and the 20/21 one.

Was he backed though? Hart was a free, Doherty and Hojberg wern't exactly players to change the team and get us playing and again, both fairly cheap. Reguilon was someone spurs had been tracking since before Jose arrived and also threw a spanner into his works cause it was obvious he wanted Doherty to be bombing forward and Davies slotting into the 3 man defence. And Bale came back because Levy wanted him and then barely played under Jose. Rodon came in because we didnt want to pay the big money for Skriniar

Not sure i can agree he was "clearly" backed. Looks more like he was given a budget and he did what he could with it.

He's left himself plenty of room to manoeuvre. You can read it both as several ambiguous statements or a direct plea to City, whichever way you want to really. He is one of our own and I think he feels the same pain we do. He's close to done with us under Levy.

With rosey specs on, I'm seeing it as he does have one eye on the door, but not both quite yet. I feel he wants to give Levy an early heads-up to show some real ambition, not fuck around all summer again, but do it early and with intent and that's why he's talking now. He says he wants an honest chat with the club and he is in a position to ask questions and demand honest answers from his meeting with Levy and not get fobbed off with ifs and maybes this time around.

We're all feeling it. We've all been unhappy on here, the players are obviously not in the best place, there are protests outside the stadium about the Super League, THST have wanted an honest talk about the future and now so does Kane. Levy has been cornered and If he doesn't change his ways after all this he's just an arrogant idiot.

Do you think the club were aware that the Sky Sports interview was happening?

Wasn’t it the case that any media interviews had to be pre-cleared with the club in advance or did I imagine that? ?

Btw Kane discussed a VAR call "the other day" that bothered him, so I think it'd be safe to guess the interview was right after the Leeds match.

Pretty sure it was 13 May. My Brother in law caddied for him after he joined the group for a few holes following a media piece at Beaverbrooks surrey.

I'm sure they were aware but as to the content, questions and what would be discussed maybe less so.

Someone else mentioned that they thought maybe the press officer would have been present too.

I love a conspiracy.
So rather than Kane and his agents agitating, the club were behind the whole thing, moving fan opinion against kane so that they could then sell him this summer and pay off the government loan.

I did an interview years ago with Kyle Walker which they wouldn't let me publish due to the sensitivity of him saying he liked the loan system rather than under 21 football. Was when the whole St Georges Park reform happened, they didn't want his name used.

They screen everything

Haha that’s not what I meant!

I was wondering whether they were aware the interview was happening or if it was clandestinely arranged.

I tend to agree with Spurs Mental that the club knew but not of the content.

What was clear was he has no desire to go abroad. Therefore the choice of clubs is down to just 3. City, United, Liverpool

If say Liverpool or United were the only ones willing to pay what is required would he go there over staying?

Obviously if City comes in he will want out. It's absolutely perfect for him. The no10 is free, penalty taker is free, centre forward position is free

So he must have got wind that City are thinking about signing him and have told him he needs to push the move through the media
He won’t go Liverpool. Rift in England not massive between him and Henderson. Mostly on Henderson’s part as he thought he should be England captain and the way their players treated Kane on social media a few seasons ago when him and Mo “Tom Daley” Salah were in line for the Golden boot.

They don't need Kane to guarantee them success and dominance. They're probably about to win the CL, along with the league at a canter, and the League Cup.

It's as though fans don't realise that City are going to dominate football until the rules change, or they lose their arab billionaire. We aren't winning anything with or without Kane. Sorry, I went on an unrelated tangent rant. I just keep seeing fans act as though football is fair right now, but buying Kane would make City too strong to compete with. I dunno what sport they've been watching for the last 6-7 years.

Yes, this season. What happens when Chelsea decide to get a quality forward or Manu, Liverpool, Barca, Real and PSG and Bayern all click into gear. Other teams with wealthy owners are going sign players and City will want the a player of Kane's quality to ensure dominance across all competitions. The owners at Man City have always said that they want to compete and win CL each season, having a forward of Kane's quality makes that a lot more realistic for Man City. I don't like the idea of Kane leaving for City but I can understand City's POV if they were to drop 150+ mill for Kane.

Lol, he was backed. He wanted Hart to be a leader in dressing room, Doherty was his choice as we knew club liked other rightbacks, Hojbjerg was exactly the player he picked. I'm not really sure Reguilon was tracked before Jose arrived, his breaking season was when Jose was already at the club.

£200m or stop wasting our time.

He is worth more to spurs than he is to City. That's the long and short of it. City will win shitloads with or without him.

Yeah I think that's fair. Two hundred mil in two payments, one now, one next summer.

man did an interview before the season was even over where he blamed his teammates for their lack of "leadership" (where were you in madrid, harry? zagreb? the league cup final?) for not having success and is actively seeking a move to our rivals. he's being a dickhead and either he leaves, in which case i hope his career tanks, or he stays, in which case he has a lot of making up to do.
Or... hear me out... there are a lot of players in this squad who don't respect the fans, don't respect the club, don't give 100% and need to be shipped out ASAP. They very clearly decided to turn on Poch, turn on Mourinho, were called out by Hugo after Zagreb and now by Harry.
