Fair point, but I personally think the process and system is sound provided the players step up to pull it off - as they did against City. Clearly they're not, which makes the root cause mentality, which can be addressed. Please note also that we've had a few peripheral, bit part players like Kane, Lo Celso and Reguilon missing as well, so take that into consideration...

Mourinho needs to spend £150m to get in the players to make his system work, that's after having just signed six players (some of them big names).

There's plenty of managers who would look at the squad we already have and think they can sure as fuck compete this year and just need a top class CB in summer.

Harry is right - it's up to the manager to get the best out of him - Jose barely trying
Bale, Alli can't get in this side - absurd
Alli will be back in the side next week, I am not sure about Bale.
Lamela deserves a start after his performance, today.
If we lose on Sunday, we may be hunting for a new manager

I dunno. We were tactically clueless and defensively all over the shop but we scored goals and he gave debuts to the likes of Kane, Bentaleb, Mason.etc

Bloke is a complete bell end but at least it wasn't the turgid rubbish AVB served up. We were so, so predictable and boring.

I don't want to relitigate the whole AVB thing, but the fact was that initial turgid play bought us a semblance of structure and a defence that was previously non-existent. He also got us the highest points total ever in his first season in charge and was on course to beating that in the second before the Adebayor / Sherwood coup which was flat out unethical. It was also fuelled by impatience to have flowing football immediately, without acknowledging that he brought out the best in Bale. He was a real manager who was unjustly terminated before we got to see the real results. So... it's not as cut and dry as it looks on paper.

And how much did he spend when he won the Europa League with United? Granted, they had a stockpile of expensive players but they achieved diddly squat until he arrived. Agreed that we need a Skriniar type of CB ASAP!!!

Much improved second half, I don't even want to mention what transpired before that.

Against west brom can we please just set out like we did in the second half.

Give ourselves a chance to win ffs

Not to dare is not to do.

Its becoming ground hog day.

Our football is like a box of chocolates, promising at the start when they get opened but now getting shit with only the strawberry cream left.

The amount of arm gestures from players instructing each other on what to do was rediculous. Lets all accept its gone tits up.

He spent £362m on 11 players, I'm guessing most of that was after the UEFA cup though.

I watch every spurs game and we just seem slow and lacking desire. No fire in the bellies.
Recently I've seen, Jones at Liverpool, mount at Chelsea, trossard at Brighton to name a few. They want it, you can see it, they run with desire and 100% commitment. Trying to positively affect the game
You cant say the same for our team, plodding around, playing safe.

loads of youth players getting chances too around the league. The odd youth player always injects a bit of positivity in fan base and on the pitch .

why is there no young players coming through?

It's small fry thinking that makes us so Spursy. We're so fucking desperate for success and insecure about failure that we can't see what's obvious and in front of our eyes, that Mourinho is cooked. Instead of doing the right thing we just have to BELIEEVE that the magic man who wins the magic trophies is the magic bullet for us.

Man United fans know what a winning manager looks like and they wanted shot. I'm not talking about the fuckwit % of the fanbase who'll kneejerk about anything and can barely string two words together. Their proper fans wanted him gone and wouldn't take him back if he was bringing a billion quid transfer budget with him.

Not sure I agree with that. United have won nothing since Jose left

With the stadium to pay off our scouts/Hitchens need to earn their corn .

we need players who can play NOW. Not njies, nkoudous, janssens, gedsons.
We need 2021 young lads from the championship or some grizzled old veterans .

cavani looking a steal compared to vini and bale now isn’t he.
Conor Coady would have been cheaper than Davinson for example .
Act like apex predators and gut teams below you .

The Dier mistake was the reason we didn't come away with a point. The game was otherwise a tie... Chelsea firing blanks and Spurs not offering much outside of a stubborn defence. To suggest that Chelsea deserved anything more is giving them way too much credit and belongs on their fan forum.
It doesn't work like that. Had Dier not given away the pen, the entire game would have gone in a different direction (of which we most certainly would have lost). We may have lost 3-0. The game was clearly not a tie. While Chelsea were not especially great, they were still FAR superior to us - that's how bad we were.

I watched until the pen and then fast forwarded too. This is how bad it's got under Jose, die hard fans can't even watch their team because we know how awful it will be. If fans were in the stadium...

I watched fits and starts after we conceded and the most galling thing is, Chelsea weren't even that good, they just did the basics. They just passed and moved and made an effort, and had a system and style of play of sorts.

We did none of these things, which is the most telling aspect of how bad we've become.

yup, Brighton, too. Just pass and move in midfield and pick your opening. We just react.

Or it’s sacking off the manager before giving him the chance to make things work.

Goon fans wanted Arteta gone a few weeks ago, Brighton fans were rumbling a few weeks ago. West Ham fans were calling for Moyes’ head not so long ago.

Spurs fans wanted Mourinho sacked before he’d started!

Don’t get me wrong, we’re fucking tripe at the moment, but where’s the resume out there that can turn this team into what we want? The fact that the players that are regularly getting pelters on here are the same players that played absolutely tripe for Poch previously, should be telling the story.

I’ll reiterate what I’ve been saying for a while now, when the players played the system the way JM wants it played, we control the pitch rather than the ball. Doing that put us top of the league for a number of weeks, and deservedly so. They’ve stopped doing it now for some reason, and that’s damn sure not because they’ve been told to do so.

I can accept that many don’t like the style of Football, to each their own, but the vast majority of the issue here is with the playing staff.

We have VERY ordinary players in key positions, yet even with that the system employed saw us getting excellent results when it was executed well. As soon as those ordinary players stopped executing the system of play it all turned to shit.

Tonight wasn’t about Chelsea sitting back, letting us have the ball saying “go on then, break us down,” they played in a way that HM’s system is designed to nullify and beat when executed properly, this involves playing in joined up groups, funnelling play, cutting off passing lanes and forcing the opposition to play in the areas we want them to. NONE of that happened tonight, nor against Brighton, or Liverpool, or Fulham and we’ve looked shite as a result.

MY point is that the focus is in the wrong area because of the ire towards JM that many have held from day 1. The problem is the players primarily.

JM doesn’t get away Scott free here, but he’s not the primary problem, and no amount of managerial changes will alter that.

I’ve played the game. At a high level. Like you. Clearly. I was absorbed. It was fascinating watching us try to break then Down. Only people that know the game know what was going on. Jose was a genius. It was the players fault that they didn’t complete his instructions. watching them throw their arms in the air as no one knew if they should make a run summed it up.

Levy should be the manger.

its obvious to me. I’ve played the game though.
