Eriksens first choice club is Barcelona, on every level. If he goes to RM his dream move would be over.
Has he told you that?

Fair point, but at this point they have little interest so maybe lower the value to something that is reasonable to him for just that team. I just feel there has to be a compromise here. Oh, and none of this speaks to the choice at all, which frankly is a train wreck at this point and they certainly don't view him as the answer. Perhaps a new coach comes in and that changes, but it also points to what a mess they are. I don't get the feeling that Madrid will be a fun place to be this year. It says something when they don't want him to be a part of their worst side in a decade.
the issue is he doesnt have to accept any move so we may not have a decision to make, if it gets us CL football then is it worth 50m?For those of you say we should turn down 50m and let him go free, I hope you won't be whinging next summer when we're struggling to make signings because we don't have the money.
It's shit that Eriksen wants to leave, but we're just not in the position as a club to not take 50m for a player when the alternative is zero. Next summer we're going to have to buy a RB, CB, and probably an Eriksen replacement at minimum. We absolutely need money. One season of Eriksen isn't worth mortgaging the future for. Plus we already have Lo Celso to step into his role for this season.
I 100% hope he stays and resigns but can't let sentiment overcome good sense, no player is bigger than the club.

Would you rather
a) have him this year and lose on a free next year
b)let him go now for 40mil?
I think i'd probably agree, money would go straight into bringing in Bruno Fernandes in Jan or next summer i suppose.(b)
- I think £40m is a lot of cash if you use it wisely
- I don't think we win the league or CL with him anyway
- I think we have enough to get in the top 4 without him, as long as our new signings bed in

Jamie Redknapp is such a div.
All he ever seems to bang on about is either spending money or upping players wages lol.
If only it were as simple as just giving Eriksen more money per week eh...

You know, he does the near post corner routine for a reason.
9 times out of 10 the defender clears it, but those times he doesn't make a clean contact, then we get a half chance. But the main reason is if the guy clears it, it is usually back out wide, and we retain possession.
If you cross it 'into the mixer' by the penalty spot, it certainly is dramatic, but CBs are built for this and win it every time. And what's worse is they naturally clear it downfield where you run the risk of a counter attack.
All the same, it was very funny when he hit the first man again with that first corner.
