How must zaha feel, though he probably should've put a clause in his contract if he really wanted a big move before signing that last deal.
Still strange if arse had the money for all these players, then why insult palace with that 40 mill bid

They are doing some very good business so far; considering reports coming out akint, not so much.

We can joke about it all we like but let's bet a bit objective for a moment to pause for thought. If they'd finished 1 point above us instead of 1 point below us and we'd qualified for the Europa League instead of the Champions League, would we have been signing a £70m player ? Would Ndombele have signed for us? At the moment they've outspent us even though they were reported as having a so called 'miserly ' transfer budget. It remains to be seen whether this will be the case at the end of the transfer window and much will depend on whether we get our other deals over the line.

Yes it's arguable that they clearly need to strengthen their defence, but for a team that has qualified for the Europa League could we honestly say we would have matched their current buys if we'd been in their position ? Could we have even said we'd have signed Perez and Tilemans as Leicester have done and we'd failed to qualify for even the Europa League ? Just putting it out there....

I dont think attacking was the issue with their team last season it was their defence and surprised they havent invested in that department yet.

It will be a difficult challenge next season to finish top four or go beyond that given their investment.

Two things happened yesterday:

1.) I was devastated to learn the Arsenal have signed Pepe for £72m. He's going to be a game changer for them and a real coup.

2.) I learned of the existence of Nicolas Pepe.

If they have enough firepower to outscore the opposition consistently, then the defence is somewhat less of a problem, no?

Really don’t care. That club is a mess, there is a poor attitude through the team, and they are yet again making a flashy signing that they don’t really need and that won’t fix their chronic problems in midfield and defence.

I tend to agree. Even if they've got some good players in, the attitude/mentality in their dressing room is still pathetic and I don't think Emery has the man management to fix that. They may do OK but they're nowhere near challenging for titles etc. because they just don't have the right attitude. All this means is they'll have some new faces to take selfies with

They finished one point below us last season. Fucked if I know what that says about our own chronic problems.

I know this sounds a bit "ifs and buts" but we were miles better than them last season. Our injury situation meant we dropped a lot of points over a short period and of it hadn't been for that 3-4 week spell we'd have finished miles above them. Now that we've got more bodies in CM that shouldnt be an issue this season. Even if Ndombele is our only signing, provided we keep eriksen and toby then we've had a better window than arsenal IMO

I’d be confident if we keep Rose and Aurier is our first choice RB next season. I think 3rd and 4th will be between us and Arsenal, if we get Lo Celso and keep Eriksen, as well as Sessegnon - I think we can push on.

Yeah I forgot about rose leaving. Have to say I dont really understand that one. Would rather sessegnon be an understudy to rose. Davies has similar problems to Trippier IMO whereby he's not a bad player but he just doesn't suit our system. We need proper wingbacks like Rose and Walker were. Sessegnon fits the bill but is inexperienced. If we don't need to sell rose then I wish we'd keep him.

That’s exactly it. I can’t remember the last player who came directly from France and was an instant success, was in Kante?

It’s why I’m glad we’ve sign ndombele but the fee did seem huge and he will take a while to get going more than likely.
