Not sure if I am just jaded by the press, but I am not too sure I want him back at the Spurs. Seems to be a bit of a spoiled brat and am not sure that would fit in with this team very well.

Basically, pay up through the nose or I'm going to sit around and shit-stir for the next three years and thanks for your invaluable assistance Mr Zidane.

Does anyone have a graphic which compares Zidane’s and Bale’s stats as players at Madrid? I haven't seen one yet and it would be interesting to see how they compare.

I’m not sure he’s a spoiled brat exactly. He seems happy to work hard and avoid any sort of prima-donna behaviour with the Welsh squad, for example. Maybe he’s just too insular in his outlook to adapt to the totally different lifestyle of being a world record transfer-fee Real Madrid media-circus star, and all the cultural changes needed to fill that role.

Who knows?

Anyway, he’s not coming to us and like you, I’m not completely sure it would have been a good thing if he did.

Which isn't necessarily relevant, seeing as they played drastically different roles. I don't think anyone would suggest that Bale is in anyway better than Zidane was. ZZ is simply one of the best footballers who ever lived.

I don’t think Bale or his agent are doing anything wrong here. Imagine your work gave you a massive raise, and a long term contract, you’re one of their top performers and then suddenly a new line manager comes in and wants you gone. You’ve not done anything to warrant the sack, and they aren’t making you redundant. Why should you have to take a pay cut to go and work at a smaller firm?

If anything, Bale has a decent case for constructive dismissal.

Doesn't show RM or bale in a great light in my opinion. In bale and his agents case he has been forced into a corner by RM and has come out fighting. Well within his rights to see out the contract RM were happy to throw at him. If RM want him out that badly they need to cut the bullshit and accept that it's going to cost them a fortune.

Which usually just results in the employer chucking a big pay-off at you and telling you to fuck off.

That’s all true, but footballers are in a different world to ordinary folk.

It’s a game of cat and mouse between them all, but they’ll all have to compromise at one stage. Unless of course Bale is genuinely happy to stay in a toxic work atmosphere and not do what he’s actually paid to do ( and what he supposedly loves doing).

Don't feel sad for him he's fucking loaded. He pushed for the move and many of us predicted this would happen. With CR7 there he never stood a chance. Would I like to see him back here? Hell yeah but I'm not bothered if he doesn't.

Yes and he has 6 years at one of the biggest clubs in the world winning 14 trophies and 4 CL titles along the way so I am sure despite everything going on now he his happy to have made the move .

I dunno... I don't really find any of this to be particularly professional, from either side.

Out of interest how comes?

Bale so far hasn't come out and said anything derogatory (although would be well within his rights to given how crappy he's been treated) and his agent hasn't been too bad considering he's well an agent lol...

Not so sure about that as some big names already in China and I believe Heung min Son is probably the number 1 football icon in Asia. I noticed the extra crowd volume when Sonny was on the ball was compatible to when Ronaldo touched the ball in the pre season game.
I won´t argue argue against Son´s level of popularity: he is HUGE. And as we Spurs fans know; it´s hard to be more popular than "one of our own". But he´s not Chinese, and he´s not playing in the Chinese league.

I´m just saying that Bale was a global superstar. He´s been a decisive force in 3 CL finals. There is no one even close to his stature playing in China or Asia at the moment. Former chelski Oscar? Nope.

And at 30 he´s not an old has been and has the potential - if he´s mentally up for it - to be a dominant force on Messi/Ronaldo -level in that league.

RM and Zidane have made such an utter balls up of this situation. Zidane continues to be abrasive and insulting while Perez still seems to think he can get some cash out of it. Truth is they have painted themselves into one hell of a corner and the only person who can help them out of it is the one they continue to disrespect. I hope they get utterly fucked over to show them the idiocy of the contracts they dish out. I also think the fallout of him coming back here is way too dangerous and our squad is shaping up rather nicely without him.

Of course Bale wont be happy to stay in a toxic atmosphere. Just like Real Madrid wont be happy for him to stay. Bale and his agents have thus far played this perfectly. Madrid have no other choice but to get rid of him it turned so toxic with their beloved manager. He will leave for another club. Either by August 8th or August 31st.
