Whatsapp is now owned by Facebook, so all the data is available to the highest bidderWhatsApp is all encrypted so I don't think there's much of that. There was a big thing about WhatsApp refusing to give over chat history about terror suspects a while ago.
About Betfair, it is absolutely true that the whole betting market basically copies them now. If you go on the exchange and have enough on a horse that it shortens significantly then every bookie will cut their price.
However, that's the exchange and it would be the sports book which price up transfer markets etc. They have no more clout than any other bookie, although it's certainly true that they'll likely have better sources than the average guy
