If we back Poch then there's no reason why we can't follow Liverpool's trajectory and make the level of improvement they made this season. United are a mess; if Chelsea hire Lampard they're in trouble (plus transfer ban); and Arsenal's owner is leaving them in the shit.

Bring in Poch's targets and we will be up there next season in Europe and domestically. Anything less is an abject failure.

I was gutted. Surrounded by pool fans. But you know what, we have achieved amazing and glorious things. We just keep going.

I've stayed away from here, and media generally since, but from what I gather poch's immediate reaction was one of great pride but mostly of determination. That is what we need. We go out and buy some players, get rid of a few, and go again.

2 teams play a final, one loses. It's that simple.

Yes but you are ignoring the fact that money has ben available for the last 2 transfer windows and Poch has chosen not to spend it, because he couldn't get the very specific players he wanted. I know a lot of people still don't believe this even though pretty much every credible ITK has been saying it since January, not to mention Alan Sugar, Glen Hoddle and Poch himself, but I can assure you it's true.

Of course there’s money available. We haven’t spent anything transfer wise except new contracts etc. There simply has to be, even after interest payments.

It's not like Mauricio has not rated those players though.. when players want quarantees to start then he is right to say no

Arsenal 2006.
Liverpool 2018.
Tottenham 2019.

All four secured a 4th place finish on the final day of the season and reached the Champions League final that they lost in slightly controversial circumstances (Lehmann red card instead of allowing the Barca goal, Ramos injuring Salah, Sissoko handball). The question now is which of the top two are we going to be more like.

Arsenal were moving into their new stadium at the time and cleared out their old guard that had got them that success in the recent times (including Bergkamp, Ljungberg, Cole, Pires and Campbell). They did bring in some re-enforcements over the next year in Rosicky, Song, Adebayor and Gallas, but these were all done on a budget and in most cases were young players not ready to compete at the top level just yet. There are a few players that are likely to leave Tottenham this summer and some of which may have been some of our best over the past five years...

Liverpool on the other hand identified weak links and actively upgraded them using their additional resources from having reached the final. They also had a big windfall from the previous year in selling Coutinho. Instead of Karius dropping two clangers, this year Alisson was arguably MOTM in the final. But here is the crucial point - for years Liverpool had been notorious at wasting money on crap/overhyped players who didn't fit in with their systems - their transfers since Klopp has come in have all been excellent.

Having saved up for 18 months, moved into the stadium, reached a CL final and now potentially selling an expensive asset in Eriksen - we should have a lot of money to spend this summer. And after 18 months, we should really have been scouting extensively to identify those improvements so that we can move quickly for them. If we can bring in four or five players of real quality (not all have to go straight into the first team but I'd say at least two or three do) and keep hold of as many of our good players as possible - we could have a real go at things again next season. However, if we don't take advantage of things this summer when we are fresh in people's minds, they will forget about this CL run quickly. Henry had left Arsenal within a year of theirs, after all...

PAY UP or SHUT UP simple as that, we either progress or regress

People have been saying this season after season - we don’t, yet continue to progress. What makes people think that we would change the strategy which has seen us get this far (and beyond expectation at times) when it’s always been planned as a gradual progression.

I think we will make signings this summer, probably someone like Ndombele and then maybe sessegnon and grealish. Plus replacements for any big outgoings.

I’m fairly certain we won’t be chucking money at expensive punts as that hasn’t served us very well in the past and it’s not how we operate.

It would be nice but we don't move quickly for player's it's not what we do.

Yeah, but reading between the lines, the money available was mostly for £20m-£25m “worth a punt” type players that Levy has said before are who we should targeting. The market moved on, and obviously Poch didn’t want more Nkoudous and Jansens.

Do you know what's between the lines 99% of the time?

Absolutely fuck all.

I just want a trophy next season. Any trophy.

Chelsea, Arsenal and United supposedly having a crisis over the last few years, yet they find ways to add to their trophy cabinet. Chelsea with 4 trophies, Arsenal and United with 3 each the last 5 years.

I know trophies aren't everything, but so tired of being beaten by the "no trophy" and "spursy/bottling" stick.

If we get knocked out of the CL early, fail to finish top four, and win the fucking Carabao cup you’ll be happy?

That would be like going back a decade or two. Yes, nice to win, but not important unless you have no real ambition.

Stop letting rival fans poke you with their toy swords.

Who cares about rival fans this is about us. We need to win something to know what it is to win so we can win bigger things. It's quite obvious mentally we aren't quite there, you can get top four and win stuff

Not rocket science is it.
Bring in quality players to replace any leaving and strengthen where you are weakest.
This is what every club tries to do every window.
Actually doing it is not so easy for 101 different reasons.
Money helps of course and gives a bit more security in the player purchased but its too easy to pay for over priced players that dont live up to that price tag.
Just look how much money Liverpool and Spurs spunked up the wall with the Suarez and Bale money.
Spending for spendings sake doesnt work. Ask Arsenal. And their fans think they haven't invested enough! Wrong players in wrong areas of the pitch and total mismanagement of contracts is their problem but it doesnt take much to turn it around. 3 windows can transform a club for better or worse.
We have a good manager and a well run club which is half the battle.

Three transfer windows is going to take a bit of time and the others will push on as well pity then that we didn't spend in the last two otherwise we would be closer now.
